Trouble getting sound

I hooked a VCR/DVD recorder up to my 811 and can tape but what is taped when replayed I get no sound but get a picture .What is the problem?

sounds like an audio cabling problem.

Use the composite (red/white/yellow) cables.

How are you getting audio to your TV? It should work the same way.
