EchoStar Communications Corp.'s Dish Network direct-broadcast satellite service reached a carriage deal with Union.
A privately held joint venture between Quiksilver Entertainment Inc. and Global Media Ventures LLC, Union was established by Quiksilver in 2002 but now operates as a fully independent entertainment company that involves many leading action-sports brands and athletes, offering premium action-sports films and youth-lifestyle content to 40 million television households and an estimated 50 million broadband-enabled households by 2007, the company said.
Dish subscribers will be able to purchase Union titles for as little as $3.99 each via pay-per-view, starting in May with Circle One, a Josh Williams surf film on the Quiksilver surf team, and in June with the world television premiere of Letting Go, a surf film featuring Kelly Slater.
