Rochester, MN locals
That gives everything but 3 counties in MN locals. Those 3 counties are Mankato (one channel DMA)...come on Dish..add Mankato and give them the other 3 nets from Mpls like Directv did :)

Yeah Distants are still there, Dish has until September 11th (which is also the date of the next Charlie Chat) to work out an agreement with the broadcasters.

I have said this before and will say this again I believe they WILL work out a deal however only East and West Coast distants will survive.

You mean that they will NO longer have Denver & Chicago as distants?
Why do you think they would do this - I mean, if they still work out a deal to be allowed to do distants, what difference does it make WHERE they are from?

Perhaps because Denver, Atlanta, and other cities would require more agreements than DISH prepared for? Or perhaps because then the deal may get too expensive or too complex? Plus for other cities than New York and LA, there might be other "issues" to be ironed out.

If the distants are dropped to two areas, I wonder which of New York, Chicago, Denver and L.A. are the most sought after?
My choice would be New York and Denver.

I don't see why DISH would make a deal at all.
The point of the distance is for people that aren't covered by a local market. DISH would be better served to concentrate on getting the remaining cities up so this is a non issue. Maybe even changing their local city stategy from market size to market that most distant net subs live in.
The last I saw the distant nets were asking for a $300 million deal. They could buy TIVO for that. :D

NO, we have always had to rely on Houston Pbs for our area. ON TWC they use it as well. If you don't have cable you really couldn't get Pbs , unless you had a deep fringe ota antenna that goes out over 90 miles. NOW I will finally get ota guide information as well for all my digital ota stations.:D

On the "other side of the fence" they are going on the opinion that the injunction is a law opinion therefore no settlements can negate that. I'm of the same opinion as you are.

Come Sept 11th ABC, NBC, CBS will survive under VASTLY different rules than have been in the past.
