With the prices at which the 501 and 508 are going for, your way ahead to get a 522/625 since they are about the same cost (on ebay anyways). You get two tv outputs and if you hookup your phoneline then you do not get charged the additional outlet fee. You end up with two rooms with DVR functionality and the money you save on the additional outlet fee makes up for the $6 DVR fee. If you have AEP the DVR fee is waived.

Yes, I would like to save on the DVR fee. I have a 510 presently and would like to find a 508 to replace it.

Why not look for a 721. You dont have to pay for DVR fees and you also get the dual tuner so you can record one show and watch another live show.

The 721 is a perfect solution for this unless you really want Name Based Recording (NBR). The 721 is going to be more expensive but has a faster EPG and I think it has a better user interface. The 721 has only one television output but the extra tuner sure does come in handy when you have two shows that comes on at the same time that you would like to have recorded or if you want to watch live tv while another show is recording.
