Have had DISH with a 811 and the old $10.00 HD package. Have a dish 500 pointed at the 110 and the 119. Also have another dish pointed at the 148 for local Wyoming channels.

Ordered a 622 DVR and the new $20.00 HD package. To get the full HD package will I need to pick up the 61.5 or the 129 satalite. If so will they give me a choice?

You do need 61.5 or 129 for the full HD package. They will replace the Dish 500 with a Dish 1000 that will receive 110, 119 and 129. You will still need the 148 dish if your locals are on 148. They will also replace your switch if needed. As far as I know, in the western US they always use 129 for HD.

In another post they mentioned that the 61.5 had a better signal in the middle of the country than the 129. Anyone have any thoughts on that. If I requested the 61.5 can the installer do that instead of the 129. Any other advantage to the 61.5?

61.5 has a few Public Info channels, but they may also be on 148, so that won't be an issue since you have it.

So then it shouldn't matter if it's 129 or 61.5.
Except for I think some of SE Wyoming might get Denver Locals, if so, the Denver Local HD channels are on 129.

Right south of Denver, I have no issues with either 61.5 or 129, or even 148.

Iwas told by a reputable source that E* has turned up the "gain" on the 129 sat....So the signal issues supposedly have been aleviated.
