Why make such poor assumptions on how things will work before they even announce how it will?

I vote for hell no. It's a low-cost "value added" option being provided by cable (going on two years) free-of-charge...expect E* to do the same.

All the drives I've seen are SATA (using SARA or Passport software), but it's the same principal...external storage support using inexpensive COTS products. Personnaly speaking, I don't see why cable doesn't support Firewire hard drives since they are required to support active firewire interfaces on their set-top-boxes.Does cable work with ANY USB drives?
If you have to pay, use the money to get another 622 and double your storage.
