I finally bought an HD set last month. (I had an HD DVR and had just been paying the $6 HD enabling fee until i actually bought an HD set.)
I got it all hooked up and called Dish Customer service. I asked if I could have the Free HD for 6 months deal that was being advertised. "Sure. No problem"
HD was turned on immediately. Fast forward a month. I get the bill, and guess what? I'm charged for HD.
I called in and the CS rep says it's only for new HD subscribers. I explain the deal to her and that the CS rep said I could have it since I didn't have HD programming before. I get hung up on.
I call back in... same thing... you can't have the deal. I tried to speak logically and calmly to the lady... she just kept spitting out the same line about me not being a new HD subscriber.... like talking to a brick wall. I asked to speak with her supervisor. She goes away for a few minutes and then, get this... the same lady comes back on and now says she is the supervisor. I told her I know it's her still. Silence.
She offers to give me $40 credit for my "trouble."
I ask her if that's the standard payout amount for lying to customers.... it went downhill from there.
Basically, I guess I cannot trust anything they tell me anymore.
Yikes.
