DISH Super Joey Wins CES Editors Choice Award

Well considering I was told the monthly fee on these SJ's would be $10/month, it seems kind of stupid to NOT spring for another $2 & get a 3rd tuner AND more HDD space...

Thanks for all the votes everyone. It was a good show and Dish won 3 awards

Unfortunately we did not win the Popular Choice award that was based on user votes. But thanks for all the support

And just for the record - I don't think Charlie will give me a raise for this :)

Vivek

Raise ? NO. But at least he won't cut your pay or fire you, Vivek.;)

Isn't 2 hoppers better than a hopper and super Joey?

It's a toss up . IF you want an integrated screen with all 5 tuners on it using the hopper/superjoey , it makes sense to pay the $2.00 less and go with this option. If you want to have extra hard drive space and 6 tuners it makes sense to go with 2 hoppers and pay the extra $2.00 . But you still won't be able to set timers up on the 2nd hopper, till DISH gets around to downloading software to be able to do this or something like it ,if Vivek is right that they are working on it. For me I like the idea of being able to see the same 5 tuner screen on all my 4 tvs and be able to set a timer up from where ever I am in the house. The only problem is that I have a 2nd hopper now ,and it would mean trading it back in to dishdepot.com to get a super joey -when it comes online for sale. I am leaning towards the super joey option since there is only 3 of us in the house and I think we could get by with the 5 tuners +ota tuner. I guess in the end it will depend on price of the superjoey and whether I want to spring for it .

Also in regard to having Two Hoppers, if something happens to one, you can still watch tv with the other Hopper. Can't with Super Joey. Though it can't happen my set up would be to swap my Joey for a SJ to go with my other two Hoppers :)

I would think the price would be significantly less than a HWS seeing as it has one less tuner and one less hard drive and no built in Sling. I realize they're buying at wholesale bulk prices, but the cost savings for no hardrive must be something. For us with 5 TVs (4 adults & 1 teen) we will most likely keep 2 HWS, but I would be interested in VJ if the price was low enough. Don't think it will be though.

There really isn't much room for it to be a whole lot less though. It will be between $7 and $12. Based on previous fees Dish has had $10 makes the most sense.

I'd swap my 2 Joeys for SJs if it's a no upfront cost deal. My commitment is up in March and we're planning on staying with Dish so I'm not worried about a new 2 year deal. We're retired and watch and record so much junk that I do run out of tuners.

You'll only be allowed one Super Joey.

Edit: Bobby beat me to it.

For the SJ. But David was talking about the VJ. Surely they won't charge more than $7 for it. $5 would be nicer, but probably $7. Can't see the $10 fee; I'd think it real hard to talk a customer into that.

Considering the Super Joey is nothing more than 2 tuners that are accessible on the Hopper, there is no need to access the SJ at all.

Should have been 4 awards, thought for sure SJ would win the popular choice award,I voted for it twice.:D Still it's a (Super) piece of technology.

What,no raise? Reminds me of Gru from Despicable Me when he tells the minions sorry no raises.:D
