If you got voyagerbob's clubdish number and your friend is using it to sign up you get nothing. voyagerbob gets $50 in credits.

If you are already a dish customer you can go to your account on their website and generate your own clubdish number for your friend, then you get the credits.

Exactly what Pepper said. You get the benefits if you give him the referral number. if you are a customer. I would take the benefit but it is so easy for you to do it yourself.
