So for background I have had this setup with a 1000.2 dish/LNB for years. The poll I had it mounted on became unstable and I had to move the dish.

I was having signal issues with HD channels. I thought maybe the LNB or dish had wore out as the dish has faded to a more grey color, it was a black "dish HD" and the LNB was very clouded.

So I ordered a new 1000.2 dish, which has a newer slimline style LNB. 3 ports compared to the 4 ports on the "dish HD" one it replaced.

The problem is that the reception is basically the same as the old LNB, SD channels are fine but HD ones jitter. This is with 38-40 on 119 and 40-50 on 110.

I feel like it was in the 70s on the old setup before moving the install spot.

I have it pointed using the settings from the receiver for a dish 500... I thought that's how I had the old dish... Would pointing it with the 1000.2 settings on dishes site maybe get better reception?

Also someone on Reddit said the hybrid LNB might not work with the 612... But wouldnt it not get a signal at all of that was the case?

The hybrid should work fine with the 612...that's why it is called a hybrid lnb, it works in multiple setups. Honestly it sounds like the problem is in the receiver itself. That 612 is pretty dang old and you have to realize it has been functioning 24/7 for X number of years. Dish MIGHT be able to ship you a replacement. If you have DVR recordings you don't want to lose, buy an ext hd and move your recordings over. After you get your new rec activated you can hook the ext hd to it.
