Denver summit: All eyes on Kroenke-Fisher Whether the Rams eventually land Jeff Fisher remains to be seen, but the rest of the NFL has taken notice of owner Stan Kroenke's serious pursuit of the former Tennessee Titans head coach.
In conversations with various sources around the league, one recurring theme has been that Kroenke must be serious about winning in St. Louis if he's going after Fisher.
Kroenke is meeting with Fisher today in Denver. There were no helicopters and photo ops, as was the case in Miami, because that's not Kroenke's business style.
This will be Kroenke's first coaching hire as Rams controlling owner, and for better or worse, it will help define his ownership style to his competitors in the NFL. But it's not only outsiders in the league who are taking notice. So are Rams players, many of whom are hoping their next boss is someone with prior head-coaching experience, and are excited about the possibility of working with Fisher.
One player, when told Kroenke would open his wallet to get Fisher, replied: "He better!"

According to league sources, if the Rams hire Fisher, he would not be interested in having Josh McDaniels stay on as his offensive coordinator. The seven-step drops and more free-wheeling approach of the McDaniels' scheme doesn't mesh with Fisher's more conservative philosophy.

League sources also tell the Post-Dispatch that former Rams head coach Mike Martz, who parted ways with Chicago earlier this week as Bears offensive coordinator, is not on the Rams' radar as a potential head coach. Neither is Brian Billick, former head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.
