311's and a Separator

I theory, you should be able to use a separater and 2 - 311's ..... right?????

Separators are designed to work only with DUAL TUNER receivers they are not SPLITTERS!!!!!!

The only way to make that work would be to have the wire go to the first 311 and then out to the second 311. the software of the dual tuner receiver is what allows it to select which sats that the second tuner needs. Now, technically, they could take the design 1 step futher and create a mini-multiswitch with the ability to do just that, but they don't seem to be interested in that.

Can you be a little more detailed on this? It almost sounds like what your saying is that the sat feed from the seperator goes to the input of one and the tv out (?) goes to the sat in of another reciever wich would not work. But regardless theres no way to get this idea to work of using seperators on anything other than the dual tuners except for 721 and 921.

what ever he is trying to say its wrong... Seperators as stated above can not be used in single tuner installations..

They only work on the following recivers...

322,522,625,721,921,942 Notice a pattern... they all have two tuners...

ACTUALLY the 721 WILL work with a seperator and the DPP44 switch.
It will NOT work with a seperator and a DPP TWIN

hmmm, ok, doubt that I will ever see one again though, theyr more rare than the jvc vhs reciever wich Ive seen 4 of them and only seen 1 721.

And I can confirm that the DPP Separator works with a DPP-Twin on a 921.

Anyway, Larry was just throwing a spculation on how it would have to work IF it could work. If anyone finds a "Sat Out" port on the back of their receiver, they should try what he says.

The speculation was about the fact that a switch COULD be DESIGNED to allow 2 single tuner receivers to work with a DP+ single wire feed. However, there would be some issues. Since the DP+ Feed allows 2 sat signals on 1 wrie, each receiver would only be able to see 1/2 of the availble transponders on the sat it was looking at. So, you would have to "Fool" the receiver by telling it that it was hooked to a legacy system. Also, because of the fact that the receiver would have to work in legacy mode, the new "Switch" that I speculated about would require it to be plugged into an outlet to be able to provide power to the LNBs. There is NO reason that this couldn't be created and it would work. However, I doubt that E* has the inclination to do so. Also, the reason for the fact that I said that you would have to run 1 receiver to the second receiver is because with the current DP+ setup, Tuner 1 actually sends out the requested sat/transponder for BOTH tuners. DP+ Seperators say on them: DC and DisceQ pass on tuner 1. Tuner 2 is blocked.

My bad then, I had read on these boards from a few that they couldnt get the dpp gear to work on those two recievers with the seperators. Ive only seen one 721 and that was 2 years ago, Ive seen two 921's with one being a week before the official release and one 3 months later, so all three were before the advent of dpp gear.
