Called Dish because last night's update seems to have bricked my relatively new WJ4. It will not pair with WAP. Soonest truck roll is May 30. A lot of techs must have hit the road (like subcribers). I remember as of a few years ago it was always next day or two. Thank goodness all the network shows are done for the summer. I have P+ and Hulu if need be.

That region might just be busy. But regardless, take that Joey and go plug it in at the access point and connect it to the access point with the ethernet cable to see if it'll link.

I don't understand. The only eithernet port on WAP connects to Hopper (or reversed HIC in my case).

I got it working. The tech at Dish never mentioned resetting the WAP. I did and it finally paired with WJ4. Not going to cancel until after another update/night.

Just for in the future, you can disconnect it from the hopper and connect to the wireless Joey directly and it will link up, or at least it should if everything's working right and then you can plug the ethernet cord back into the hopper and move the Joey back to wherever it's going to be, and when it boot up, it should be connected

Are you saying to by-pass the WAP and hard wire WJ directly to Hopper? I would have to "borrow" HDMI cable from blu-ray player or ATV to see if it works.

No, if you have difficulty getting an access point and a wireless Joey to connect, move the Joey to where the excess point is,connect the wireless Joey directly to the access point with the ethernet cable just long enough to get them to connect then reconnect the access point to the hopper and put the wireless Joey wherever it's going to be and power it up and it should still be connected

Or not enough workers, combined with a holiday weekend, makes for a slight delay.
The last time I had a Dish tech out was a couple of years ago to install a +. He was telling me his area was way understaffed at every position and he had just given his notice.Said he had booked a personal day off way in advance and had rented a garage so he could work on his car.
At the last minute his boss cancelled this guy's day off. If the story is true I don't blame the guy for moving on. I was in retail mgt for many years and never would think of cancelling someones personal day off. I might ask but I would never over ride.Plus I would have approved the personal day off myself to begin with.
