Hi. I have a 36" FTA dish up , but i would like to go to a 6' c and ku band dish to pick up the other RTN channels. I live in a homeowners assocation. I know the fcc lets you put up bigger dishes than the assocation allows on some things. I was wondering if anyone else has had a case similar to mine and had been able to put up the dish. Thanks, Dennis

I have 2 6 foot dishes set up and I live in a HOA.

I'm the VP of the ass'n now but before that I wasn't (and still had the dish).

As long as its your exclusive area there shouldnt be issues.Otherwise see where the dish will go and talk with the HOA about it.

Thanks for the input. It might not be as hard as i thought. Dennis

If you are referring to the RTN channels on G3-C 95West c-band, I don't think a 6' dish will lock those signals. They are a 7/8 FEC which the 6 foot dish does not have tight enough beamwidth and will probably macroblock and fall of the digital cliff.

A 6' dish at C-band frequencies sees around 3 degrees of sky. Adjacent satellite interference will hurt you on tp's that use 7/8 FEC ratios.

It will still work for many other c-band birds.

My 7.5' mesh Sami dish will lock the G3C RTN's most of the time.

I can lock them on the 6 footer now with no issues. Nice 70-75 stable quality on the Pansat 1500

I am talking about the RTN channels on galaxy 26 tp 17. Will a 6' dish receive these? Dennis

it depends... if it is solid and you are located in the middle of the US it might work. I have a 7.5 ft mesh dish and have yet to lock that mux, still want to try skewing lnb b4 I give up on it.

If you could put up a 8 or 9 ft dish that would be great. If 6 ft is the biggest you can go, go with it... you will probably still get all the channels and have few problems.

I live in Virginia, near Richmond. And galaxy 26 is where all the newer RTN channels are located ,correct? Dennis

G26 or G3?

G26 you need a DVB-S2 card or box that will support it. I tried to lock them with a 6 foot dish and no go...I know a 7 1/2 foot will work (stogie proved that)

I am looking for the satelite that has WPIX,WXYZ, and WBAY among others. If i need a 7 and half dish, don't know if i can get that by the assocation. Dennis

If you are successful, please let me know. I'd love to get a bigger dish up. I've even got a privacy fence up that would mostly hide the dish!

the key thing is its not the main channel but rather a subchannel that just has RTN on it

as an example, its WBAY-DT2

I just looked up the lyingsat chart to see where the newer RTN channels were, but i couldn't any of the ones listed on galaxy 26. Coul someome point me to where this list is. Thank You, dennis

Thanks for the list. So looking around it seems i need at least a 7 and a half foot dish and a receiver that can pick up DVB-S2 signals such as a Diamond 9000 hd. I should be able to pick up bothe c band and KU with this receiver right? And I should also be able to pick up the S2 channels on Galaxy 26 and the other RTN channels on G3. Is there anything else I need? Dennis

7 1/2 foot will easily get the G3 RTN stuff. I was watching them today on my 6 footer (nice 77-78 quality)

Well I was turned down by the Home Assocation for the7 and a half ft dish. I then called the Fcc, who told me they could not help me since it was bigger than one meter. They said all I can do is ask for a wavier for the size of the dish. This i have done. Hopefuly I will hear something in a week. Dennis

The home assocation has got back with me and they may change their mind now. Has anyone had any contact with the person who runs FTA Satellite Sales.com. I called him about the equipment i would need and he told me not to get a Diamond9000 hd receiver. He was trying to talk me into the matchbox system going through a computer. And even though he says he has installers in all 50 states, he would not give me the name of the installer in Virginia unless it seemed to me, I first buy something from him. Also I was lookinf into the 4DTV area. If i had my system set up to the Diamond 9000 and i went to ebay and brought a cheap 4dtv receiver. Could i run a AB switch between them to go back and forth.
