622 DVR problems

Hey all - we have had a 622 DVR for a few years now and started experiencing problems with it a few months back. Essentially, every time we record and try to watch a show at the same time, the 622 becomes extremely sluggish. Changing channels results in 15-20 seconds of black screen every channel change.

Even after the recording is done, the symptoms remain until I do a soft reset of the system. Short of calling Dish and talking to their technical support, anyone have ideas on what might be causing this?

There is a lot of info in this thread. Check your temps. The 622 HDD likes it cool.

Many thanks - heating issue never occurred to me. Will check the readings when I get home.
