622 install happening today.

I have an install on the 17th of April. Called today to verify if they would have a 44 with them when they arrive. I want to keep my 61.5 dish. They are installing a Dish 1000. She said that they would have everything they needed on the truck. I asked if this included 44's and she said that when they load the truck in the morning, all necessary equipment that is scheduled from the workorders is loaded. I didn't get a true answer to my question, so I'm curious to find out what they bring with them.
Are all installers equipped to handle all situations? Reading this makes me wonder.
Thanks:

Lyle

Reading between the lines, the answer is most likely no!

You don't need both 129 and 61.5 so if I was the installer I wouldn't do it either.

If you're not excluded for the dish 1000, that's what you're getting, the 61.5 is not needed

Yes I have to agree with BFG. Fortunatly for me there was an out. I have 3 locals (one college and 2 shopping channels) on 148 So with dish 1000 upgrade I have rights to programming on 4 orbitol slots (sats) 110-119-129HD-148Locals. So they HAVE to give me a 44. Even with that they have tried to talk me out of 148 for 2 years so they dont have to give me one. This time I said I WANT IT!

You dont have rights to one as you have no need by Dish standards unfortunatly.

I cant speak for the DNS offices in the upper northwest as Ive never talked to anyone from there, it is nice to hear that you have got a qualified and capable indy guy or atleast from what he says on the phone albeit an unprofessional action to talk about the work of others with his customer. Funny thing is he saying he was givin five ten minute fix jobs that were labeled that on the work orders, in all my years with dish I have never ever seen a work order labeled for anything less than 1 hour.

As for the DPP 44 switches it seems that some people on the forum dont know or understand the current issue of availability of these devices. The switch is on a nationwide shortage and are now starting to come into most locations both non dns and dns staffed. During the worst part of the shortage what many locations had to do if there was the issue of a super dish and the addition of a wing dish was to add the wing dish and temporarily remove one of the other sat feeds from the dp 34 that was running to the superdish so as to provide the customer with the hd content but taking away the least viewed sat or never viewed sat. I know of several offices that have done this and are bringing out dpp 44's to those customers at no additional charges to fully restore service.

If the unit manager of your nearby office is crying about the cost of a switch then I would suspect that he is a local sub contractor or an rsp and not an actual dns facility. If you can tell me what city it is then I can find out if it is a dns facility and if so who the manager is though there would be atleast 4 field service managers, an installation manager, a general manager, and possibly a regional manager.

I just had a VIP622 installed to replace a 811. I have 3 additional receivers on the account. When the guy got here we talked briefly and I knew I needed a DPP44. He said he could make it work if he put 2 DP34s together and run a 5th line but that would probably be about the same cost as a DPP44. He called up Dish and they agreed with him and added the DPP44 to the workorder. Sometime logic works. It was a very good installation experience in part because of the information on this forum. And yes, they called the day before to remind me of the appointment.

I just have to ask. You are going through all of this hell for a college channel and two shopping channels? Are you actually excited to watch these channels or are you doing this to prove a point of some kind? If it is to prove a point, then I got to admit, it all seems kind of ridiculous to me. If you are getting the 148 because you are taking classes that you need to have the college channel or you are addicted to shopping and without those two shopping channels then you are going to have to go into rehab, this all seems a bit over the top. But that is just me.

well he's admited to being a PITA so I think it's really about some point of being in the right he wanted to make clear

EXACTLY!~ I was treated so improperly in the past and I am totally in the right for DPP-44 Based on my Seattle location. Yes if I had had better service I would not have cared as much. however this is a nice trick switch and I believe in getting what you qualify for;)

By the way Van, It is a Dish shop they are in Marysville Wa. See what you can find out.

I got install, I am going to start new thread in a few minutes!:D
