A New Twist That Could Speed the Internet

I do not see it really being a fiber capacity issue yet. They lay fiber down in bundles and they can easily go to 2 or more fibers as needed for a connection. Maybe for underseas cables or something where they have used up all the strands.

You got to start somewhere and it's a good start. I remember seeing something like this in regards to wireless technology they are trying to come out with to increase speeds and reduce interference/refraction issues as well, where they spiral the signal.

Neat stuff.I recently heard about a google experiment in New Zealand, they are using balloons for wifi service, they have to replace them every 100 days but still much cheaper than satellite.

I was reading about Google's experiment as well. It is called "loon". They are using unlicensed 2.4 GHZ from the balloons and unlicensed 5 GHZ up to the balloons. They are using cheap Ubiquiti radios along with solar power to do the job.

I have read for years about blimps and weather balloons for wifi but nobody has really done anything other than for use with military.

There was another balloon experiment I was reading about where they were putting GPS transmitters on them so when they land they would pay people such as farmers to retrieve them. I do not know what came of that.
