I've been back and forth between buying the Mini 4k or the Mini HD265. Just having 4K ability would be nice for future proofing (although there's few broadcasts out there), which is yall's take on the two? I've got a GT media V9 Prime currently and it blind scans G19 in 1 min 15 sec. I like it but I'm wanting to upgrade slightly (get away from Chinesium if I can). Do either of these Amiko's scan faster than the other, or for that matter are they noticeably faster (or not) than the GT media products? In reading the forums I haven't gotten a clear indication of which Amiko is better for non-4k stuff. I'm not going straight to an Edision, I'm being incremental about upgrading my FTA system. I'm also tired of unplugging the STB and dragging it outside with a small TV every time I need to do dish work, having a spare STB to do that is part of the reasoning here too.

Also in reading the forums it seems that the Mini 4k may have had more teething problems when it came out? Are most of the kinks worked out by now? I know the HD265 has been around a while. Thanks

I have never used a GT Media so i can't compare, but having used both of the Amiko models extensively, my opinion is they are pretty much the same thing as far as performance. Picture quality, blind scan accuracy and speed, etc.. Menu/user interface are exactly the same between the two. The only difference to my knowledge is the 4K UHD model will do everything the H265 will do but also can do 4K UHD and also will do DVB-S2X. The H265 will not do either. That said, there are no 4K UHD channels for the North America currently. Used to be one, but it left a short while ago. But, hey, you never know, maybe in the future. Hope this helps.
