Any Plans to add RSNs to HD Only Package?

I would switch to the dishHD only package if I could get my Fox Sports Midwest channel. Does anyone know of any plans to include the sports channels with the HD only package?
 
In a phone conversation with the "executive offices" yesterday, (I emailed, they called back) the rep explained to me that they have had a lot of people upset/confused that they can't have their RSN or add Multisports etc. to their HD Only package. He expressed their concern and said that in this changing landscape where people watch only HD they are aware it is a problem and are "working on the solution." He said, "We are aware it is a major problem for people" and that there are plans to change. I told him I would pay the $6 for multisports just to get my one RSN if I could. He said changes are coming.

Unfortunately he couldn't tell me when but I told him I would REALLY like to see it happen before college football season rolls around. He thanked me for the feedback and said they will use it in their deciding what to do.

So... what do you guys think? Honest concern from Dish Network and we'll have RSNs in time for football? Or we will see changes "soon", i.e. Feb 2009...

I really hope they help us out on this one and make the HDOnly pack a qualifying package. I mean hell, realistically it is the AT250 HD channels, so hook me up with the RSN!
 
If you look at all of the Dish programming packages you'll see the most likely solution already exist with their AT100/At100+ package. The AT100 and Dish Family packages are lower cost basic packages that have no access to your regional sports channel(RSN). The AT100+ adds your RSN(and access to the $5.99 sports package) and your local networks for an additional $10.00 per month........roughly $5.00 each for locals and RSN access.

Solution:

DishHD package: 29.99 monthly
DishHD w/locals: 34.99 monthly
*DishHD+: 39.99 monthly

* Includes local networks and regional RSN......allows access to $5.99 sports package.
 
Dish talked at Team Summit about getting rsn 24/7. Maybe with this, hd only would be able to get it.

I certainly agree with you in principal, but you have to realize how expensive sports channels are. I'm sure that the RSN's are among the most expensive channels(ESPN!) on Dish Network. Having said that, I would gladly pay the extra $5.00 for My RSN.......and would add the $5.99 sports package as well.

That would be an extra 10.99 of revenue for Dish......and I'm sure I'm not alone!

briani you probably nailed it. lets hope they do that. I got no problem with that kind of fee structure.

I emailed ceo@dishnetwork.com and did get a call back about not being able to get my RSN in the HD only package. Like it was stated above I would happily pay the additional charge to get FSN Midwest. The person who called me noted my concern but could not doing anything about it at this time. I think we all need to keep emailing, chatting with CSR's and calling them until they change it.

I've sent two emails so far on this issue. I would be happy to pay 10 bucks a month for big10 and RSN's.
 
According to Scott, Dish is working to obtain the rights to add the RSN as a "add-on package" to the DishHD package. Hopefully they can get this done before the fall football season starts. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
 
I guess I should post here.. I have the everything in pack, and I have "moved" to Atl. I'd love in the future to receive Penguins games instead of getting the NHL Center Ice once the season begins again next season. I looked on Dish and saw the Multi sport package and it had FSN Pitt on there.. So could I add this package and get all of those sport channels?? Just curious.

Yes, you can add the Multi-Sport package to the Everything package, but if your Dish zipcode says "Atlanta", you won't get the Penguins on FSN-Pitt. Out of market pro games are generally blacked out. Everything else is usually available.

And I agree with everybody, if Dish would let HD Only package subs add the Multi-Sport package, that would be great!
 
To do that you would have to "move" to Pittsburgh.... and who would want to do that?

just kidding... i cant judge, i choose to live in MN. :-)
