Are 5000's available for warranty replacements

I have a 5000 acting up but I wonder if E* still has any available to replace it under the "Service Agreement". If it gets replaced, I need the replacement to have a UHF remote. I don't have any extra options with it (can't remember the options but I know it had some, HDTV ?) so I wonder what they would use to replace it with.

I don't think they would. They would probably replace it with a newer model closest to it.

I don't feel like spending an hour going thru trouble shooting with some low level csr just to be told that "well it seems to work now, give us a call when its dead". Knowing how they work (former dealer), they won't tell me what the replacment is until they are ready to send it.

just tell them it is dead and won't power up...no green light at all!

Yes add the service protection plan. it may cost you 29.99 for a tech to come out to trouble shoot the system just to be sure. That is what I would request other than talking to a no knowledge csr.
