After a month, one of my D10 recievers crapped out. It just stays stuck on one of the first screens that says "load system information" or something. They were all new boxes, so I am a little scared if this is a sign of things to come. Since it falls under the D* 90 day policy, they are sending me a new one for free. Does anyone know what the warranty is on such receivers?

TIA,
Will

Did you get a manual with the receivers? Usually the back page or a section close to the back page explains the Warranty coverage. D10-100's have been good for me, I am not too impressed with 200 & 300 manufacturers.

We've had 2 D10-300's for three months now with zero problems. Same with the 3 month old H10.

I have had 2 D10s and a Samsung DVR for about a year, with no problems. Also an H10-250 for about 6 months, also no problems.

Yeah, I am concerned about the D10 issues. I'm also concerned about the new DVR especially after the delay due to technical problems. I definitely don't want Directv receivers to turn into Dish Network junk receivers.

Silly guys! Model numbers all mixed up!
D10 not d10-100 They are manufacuted by thompson (RCA)
d10-200 are manufactured by philips
d10-300 are manufacuted by samsung

And its hr10-250 not h10-250

We all knew what you ment! Im just being silly.

Don't know if you guys know this but heres a little history on why RCA rocks and DTV would be no where without them...

When dtv was trying to get a ird made they tried a few places with no luck. RCA had confidence in their product. They fronted dtv the money and resources to build 15 irds.
The cost was $150,000.00 each!!!!!!! YIKES! They then started mass production and rca again agreed to make 1 million units and agreed to front all the money as long as hughes.. (soon to be DTV) did all the advertising for the new satellite company. Well it worked and here we are today. Im sure you can figure out the rest of the story. I thought it was neat when i read it. thought you all might enjoy the story as well. So know ill tuck you all into bed and wish you sweet dreams...

Goodnight!

Just so we are all on the same page, my box is a D10-200. If it is in fact made by Philips, that makes me a little nervous. I bought two Philips DVD players at Best Buy last month, and although they work OK sometimes I have to reset them unplugging as they seem to go wacky.

D* claimed the new box would be sent out via FedEx ASAP. Does anyone know how long it takes them to send it out of the warehouse? And is it actually FedEx "overnight", or do they just send it "Ground".

TIA,
Will

Well, I was able to call D* and answer my own questions.
They did ship it on the next business day (good).
But they sent it FedEx "2-Day" (bad).
They should really step up and either send it 1-Day. Or let people buy a new box at a retailer (Best Buy etc), and somehow re-imburse us for it.
When a cable box dies, you can go right down to the local office and get a new one right away (the only problem is if it happens on a Sunday).

Well, while RCA receivers are NOT anywhere near E* junk, I'm still not very fond of them. That's why I bought a couple of extra of the Hughes HAH-SD units for spares - the whole overall layout of the guide/screens is just better than any of the other D* (non-DVR) units every made, IMHO. If I want to "scan the EPG", you just can't beat these Hughes units for that. (not to mention the Turbo tune feature that I use for my favorite Music Choice channels)

While the name on the front of the receiver says "D10", the label on the back of the box says "Manufacturer code 100".

Actually, you have it backwards. the -200s are Samsung, the -300s are Philips. Just look at the owner's manuals on the D* website.

Oh yeah your right! whoops... Well thanks for the correction. It seems as though all the dsx 5500 philips trends are following their new d10-200. I still don't understand why philips is still in the game. ???
