Bally Sports and MSG RSN Are Reportedly Preparing For Bankruptcy

Sphere Entertainment, which owns and operates MSG Networks, filed an 8-K "current report" with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday night indicating that it reached a forbearance agreement with lenders that extends through March 29.

As many games as there are during the NBA and MLB seasons, the teams should be doing deals to show a weekly game on local OTA networks. That would draw some interest back to the teams from the casual viewers
Teams (MLB, NBA, NHL) should show a game a week on a service like Pluto TV also.

So many cord cutters do not understand if you put a antenna up, you get a bunch of free stations.

Or, they just do not bother, my daughter fits that category, everything is streaming, does not care about OTA stations.

does not care about OTA stations.

I guarantee that if an MLB team went entirely (or mostly) OTA, people would care.

I think they know, there's just nothing on them worth watching. I have one and barely use it, the local TV stations post the local news and weather on YouTube, I also like to watch the monologues for the late shows and I catch them on YouTube. OTA and Cable are dying because the programming sucks.

MLB thinking they can get big money for games is a joke, most younger people would rather watch paint dry than baseball on TV.

No, the vast majority will not.

Only 18 Million Households watch TV via a Antenna, which is 15%

But, as of 2024, over 42% only watch TV via streaming.

Then the fact that MLB receives terrible ratings, which I have posted in this forum multiple times, RSNs only receives 1-3% of the total audience.

But the majority can.

I live in what is considered a rural area ( in my opinion, it is more semirural), yet I receive every station via the antenna.

But, I do not watch TV that way, maybe 2 Football games via the antenna, nothing else, in the last 12 months.

Why watch a bit staved OTA signal ( due to all the sub channels) in 720P/1080i, where I can view the content in real 1080P/4K, via the streaming services.

this is spot on. i'm savvy enough to know I can do this and have thought about it a few times. Every time though, I think what am i actually missing to want to deal with an OTA antenna and setting up an HDHR or whatever? The answer is generally nothing and so I still do not have an OTA antenna set up
