Posted for 2+ weeks.... Am I advertising in the right section? Do I need to add more info? It seems that I can't give away a dish! Any help to get this thing to someone who would appreciate and use it would be most welcome. Thanks.

Those BV perforated reflectors are fine dishes for their size.

I don't think I have ever seen a perf that wasn't 8'-6, are you sure yours is 7'-6?

It is indeed 7 ft 6 in. straight-line (no bends in the tape, passing over/across the center), outer edge to outer edge.
phlatwound: I'm totally unfamiliar with these dishes, and you seem to be informed, and say you've never SEEN a 7.5 ft dish. The 7.5 ft diameter is a measured distance... could this differ from advertised/paper sizes? ...e.g., a "2x4" piece of wood is actually smaller than advertised. Would an 8.5 ft advertised diameter dish be a 7.5 ft dish in actual diameter?

When measured along the inside curved surface of the dish, across the center, that length is about 7 ft 9 in
I placed a 2x6 across the dish, extending beyond each edge, then measured the "depth"(?) of the dish from the dish surface center to the closest edge of the board: 11 in. [see photo] The 11in depth and 7.5ft (measured) diameter worked well for many years... purchased in the latter 1980s for about $4,000.

I searched (again) for the control box... not found... it is gone. Sorry.

I just own one of the BV perforated but have seen about 10 of them in person and they were all 8'-6, and all the old BV advertising materials I have seen don't mention anything smaller than that.

There was mention of some solid 9'-6" reflectors (I have seen just one of those), not sure if there was a 9'-6" perf reflector offered.

Your 1st measurement method was correct (don't want to measure the curve distance), may have a rare Bird there!

There's people here that have forgotten more about these BV dishes than I will ever know (possibly an ex-dealer or 2?), maybe they can shed some light on the 7'-6" size.

Size does matter, and 7.5' is a little small for some of the signals that are up there but your setup would be a nice "starter" dish for someone, and it appears you have the standard BV H-H mount that one of their bigger reflectors would bolt right onto.

For such a big company BITD there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on them, I wish an "insider" would write a book on the Birdview saga.

As far as the missing control box goes that is not a big deal, most people would convert the dish movement control to a modern solution anyway (Titanium ASC1 for example), and a new receiver is required as analog is pretty much obsolete and gone.

Thanks for the info... and the education! ...and the hope that a possibly uncommon dish ("rare Bird"!) may be desirable to someone.
I've kept the dish looooong since it was useful to me, and just recently took it down off its pole AND cut off the concrete base in prep for its travel to a good home.

This 7.5 ft dish MAY have been one of the earlier ones that BirdView produced(?), moving to a larger size soon/later on(?). At the time of purchase (latter 1980s), I THINK these dishes were new on the market... and just HAD to have one!

radio: There is no deadline for its "going away" at my end... as stated, I've had the thing since late 1980s and it has not been useful to me for many/most of the years since then. That said, it WAS up on the post, up and out of the way. Due to garage repairs, that the post and dish was attached to, the dish was taken down and is now on the ground. I'd certainly like to move the thing soon, but it could be "stored" on the property (on the ground) for "a good while"... especially if that made it eventually get to someone who would use it. As for "feasibility of shipment": I know that folks traveling distances will haul stuff, and offer good prices, to cut their own travel costs, but you have to match their schedule. Hmmm..... [note: the free dish (and pole, & cables) does not come with a trailer for others to haul it away!]
