Can you activate a DISH Receiver Online?

Hi....I had a quick question....Is it possible to activate a new receiver online?......Im looking to buy a New HD Receiver and it would be easier to activate online then over the phone....If you can what info do you need....

Go to Dish's website, login, and look at "My Account".

Yes, its easy on line, you can deactivate one and or add another. All you need to do what Hall said, after logged in, go to the equipment part, add receiver, you need the receiver number and smart card number. Then a few minutes later, you are watching tv.

That only works, if you got the receiver directly from Dish, other wise you have to go thru the dish chat or call.

If you have previously subscribed to any pay per view services, such as the NHL package, the on line activation will fail and you must call. Thats what the Dish guy said to me after I called when I tried to activate on line and it wouldn't take.

It works in theory. It's never worked for me. Fails every time, and I have to call. And all my equipment is and has been direct from Dish.

I replaced a 508 under the home protection plan, and the new receiver was listed under activate new receiver in the account settings otherwise I have had to use the dish chat or call.
