Cancelling dish before installation?

Can you cancel before installation even if you have the 18 month committment?

I canceled my Wildblue service I ordered through Dish. It also had an 18 month contract. I hadn't given them any money or actually signed a contract yet. They were going to collect and have me sign at the install date. I had to spend a couple hrs. on the phone until I got someone who could cancel the work order. The local dealer I ordered from didn't cancel it right, and I couldn't order PPV or make any changes to my tv programming until this work order was canceled.

As long as its not installed and active you can cancel it with no issues and get a full refund.

Im still on the fence between E* and D*. I really want the Big Ten Network. I like E* because they offer me my locals and the startup cost are nothing like D*. On the other hand I'm a huge Hawk fan and need to watch their games. I also heard D* may have a new customer deal within the next week. Any advice?

What start up costs on D*? D* best promotion started on July 12th there are no promotions about to start for them, it ends Oct 27th.

The start up costs for what I need is close to $400. That would include 1 HD DVR and 2 HD Recievers. I just read this from Scott.

Well Direct is still behind on things and Dish has more HD plus their HDDVR blows away anything Direct has. I have many friends here that were with Direct for a long time and they all say they were glad they made the switch to Dish. Wished they had done it sooner. To me if anyone goes with Direct it would be a step back wards as far as the Big Ten Network goes I think Dish will have it just like everyone else. Anyway you have been warned but it's your choice.

Yes...If you have not had the system instlled nor have you signed anything, you may cancel with no obligation.

Actually I thought DISH was still giving you 30 days to cancel if you weren't happy.

It is not. Back in April, both companies were offering a money back guarantee. It lasted for a few weeks and disappeared without fanfare.

E* requires a 18 month commitment on WildBlue? WB themselves and their NRTC partners have a standard 12 month commitment. E* as usual has to tack on something extra. My NRTC gives a free month of WB for refering a new customer and I think WB does also. Does E* do that also or is that another "ding"?

Are you positive about that 72 hours, and is that the official deadline? What if you had it installed already, but not happy w/ it? I don't want to pay a bunch of penalties.

All contracts are supposed to have a 3 day lemon law.. But I wouldn't be holding my breath on what it will actually take to get out of it.. They may not refund any money paid up front..

Having both the Dish and Direct HDDVR I have come to the conclusion that neither one is really better than the other.. Each has somethings that make it seem better, But they both are pretty good units. It all comes down to what you are used to.. If you get use to each one then you don't feel like one is inferior.. I would love to see some features of both incorparated to make one that is excellent.
