Could you be a little less specific?

Could be your local station is doing some engeneering stuff. Maybe Adding digital or working on the transmitters?

I saw the same thing last night when I tried to watch Lettermen. The Green Bay CBS HD channel from DirecTV had a static screen up that said the channel was off the air. I tuned to the OTA CBS HD channel and I got a searching for signal message on the TV. Then I turned the TV off and went to bed.

Right, probably technical maintenance.

I would assume that at this stage of the game, most stations do not have backup digital transmitters!
