Change in fast forward (related to AutoHop?)

I just noticed this last night watching a recording of 48 hrs on CBS from 10/21, so AutoHop was not available yet. I don't recall seeing the red kangaroo icon in right bottom before, but it is there now as I skip forward. Not every skip but the last commercial as the program resumes.
I am watching a program on NBC I recorded last night and was given the option to enable AutoHop and it is functioning as it should.

I just noticed my Autohop isn't there at all- no kangaroo on the network shows I've recorded. Searching the web didn't help. I have PTAT enabled. Does anyone have any suggestions?
