There were some immediate reactions against the idea. As the rumor became fact, it seemed people started warming up to the idea of Tatum playing the Cajun X-Man. Tatum even appeared at San Diego Comic-Con with other cast members in the X-Men Movie Universe. A new report says Tatum's chance at being Gambit may be coming to an end.According to The Wrap, a source has informed them the deal is in "jeopardy" as Tatum is planning on leaving the production. It's not clear what the problem is and a source says Tatum's reps are still in active discussions but apparently "something is up." Director Rupert Wyatt may soon be on the search for a new lead in order to make the October 7, 2016 release date.Gambit was a project Tatum was enthusiastic about. Tatum and his producing partner, Reid Carolin, have been planning on Tatum's directorial debut soon and he is set to star in 23 Jump Street so these could be factors coming into play. We'll have to wait for an official announcement for further information.
