A hang over from days long gone by. # of receiving devices no longer has any meaning whatsoever, but they'll keep on enforcing it.

Echostars FCC permit for Ciel 2 at 129W issued today 1/30/2009

They can now use the satellite.

The FCC says they have a permit, but has Ciel said they can use it? Apparently not.

Well no. That's why I said on and off. Sometimes on R and sometimes on L. And most of the time on neither. Just saying that when I've looked, I've seen nothing to get excited about.

Another great catch by nelson61. I downloaded a copy of the approval so I could reference it quickly if I forgot what it says.

5,000,000 (5M) earth stations receiving on 0.45M dishes. Beginning whenever and ending in 15 years. I looked for a termination date for E5 at 129 but didn't find it.

Another detail for the detail oriented: location 128.85, +/- 0.05 degrees. Movement outside that ambit would require additional approval.

Does a thread with a 1,000 comments and 95,000 or so views deserve a sticky? I don't know, that's totally up to Scott. It's worked out great anyway! If you're getting 20 comments a day (and very few of them complaints), you don't much need a sticky.

I think there is something going on, I was just checking signal strengths on lower transponders, 2,3, and 5, first check showed conus on all , second check showed these as spotbeams with higher signal strength. A third check shows all are showing conus with the old lower signal strengths.

i am getting a 43 on Transponder 4 i usually get 20-30 so something is happening.
