hi (just joined)

I have a Philips 55" widescreen HDTV (55PP935217) and for some reason when i plug in component cables from my DVD player to the TV (HD input, the screen goes wild. All i see is blue lines going across ( i guess because my DVD players welcome screen has a blue DVD logo when i turn it on) really fast. I also ordered a DVI (Analog) cable that has a DB15 connection on the other end, and i still get the same screen. Is it the cables or TV that is messed up?
TIA
Edit: DVI from laptop to TV.

- Philips Widescreen HDTV 55PP935217
- Panasonic DVD player DVD-RV31, soon to get Zenith DVB318
- GE Compnonet Cables
- DVI Analog to VGA/SVGA/HD15 Pin

Your set should accept DVI-D cables not DVI-A. IS your DVD player progressive scan? You might try activating that, to see if it clears the problem. If not check the connections, then try new cables. If that doesn't work call service.

I thought DVI cables are all the same, guess i was wrong. Got the DVI from ebay for $10 which is not bad. My DVD player does not have Proressive scan capabillity, maybe that is why the component cable won't work. I have to wait and see what happens with the Zenith (up-converter) unit that has Progressive scan. If i get the same result then it must be the TV. Thanks for reply :yes

alot of dvd players do not have the progressive scan activated. i had to plug in regular rca cables turn it on and then switch to the compontent cables.
