Computer Monitor Recommendations

I'm in the market for a 1920x1200 monitor. I like all the various inputs provided on the Gateway 24”, but I’ve read some comments that say the screen is too bright.

I’d appreciate comments about 1920x1200 monitors from anyone who lives with one.

I have had 2 of the 24" Dell 2407WFP monitors for somewhere around a year/year and a half. No problems with either of them and I like them..... for what that is worth. If you watch for the Dell special deals you can get a good price. Or look in the refurbished

In case if you'll need connect to HD receiver.

Tested Dell 2405WFP with H20/HR20 and 622/622Z using HDMI-DVI cable. Working without problem with HD channels.

Definitely check out a Dell. They may not make the best computers, but their monitors are great.

So... Dell, Samsung, what other brands are good?

My wife's SONY Trinitron CRT is on the fritz. I want to get her a 19 or 22" Widescreen LCD. Of course, I am realizing I will need to get her a new video card too, since there is no way the Matrox card in her machine will support the 16x9 resolution needed. (Although I'll check for updates from Matrox first).

What are the key specs to look for?

The Matrox card should support DDC and after connecting 16:9 monitor will know about native [pixels] resolution of the monitor. I wouldn't worried about it.

I have a 24" dell that I bought a year ago for $605. Best monitor I've ever had. It's on sale right now for $399. I believe it has a 5 year warrantee. Good luck!

So, after looking at all the options, I ultimately decided that she would be fine with a 4:3 aspect ratio 19" monitor. There are not many left out there. Got her a Samsung, with a 2000:1 contrast ratio, a 5ms response, and a black matted screen. None of those glossy screens for us. Its running 1280x1024, and I forgot how much larger the screen real estate is compared with a 19" CRT. She is happy, and I did not have to spend money on a new video card, or go through all that hassle.

BUT... I realized that I want a 22 or 24" widescreen for myself Dang, those things are nice. Maybe santa will be nice to me

Check out the HANNS-G 28" on newegg.com, currently 559.00... We bought 2; actually were looking for the Viewsonic version but they were backordered big time. One was defective but replacement was fine. Been using them for a month, works great....

I'm not shopping yet, but I realized these 24" full-HD monitors now cost less than the 17" CRT I'm still using. Got it, like my first PC printer, back in the day before price drops applied to things like monitors and printers. Hmm, might even fit in my hutch...

Hate to break the secret to you, but the dell panels are samsung.... Just cheaper and just as good.
