Contract or No Contract?

I am thinking about making the switch from Cox to DN (turbo HD),but was wondering if it's worth having a 24 month commitment? I Really don't want a contract, just in case something comes up and I want to cancel before the 2 year period.

So new customers can get a Free 722? How much if they want 2 722's?

second 722 is 199.00 . upfront, cust would have to pay 249.00 for two 722s with contract, but would get 50.00 back on first bill brining total to 199.00.

another promo they offered, if you do a dishintup upgrade with a dishmover at the same time, they will knock off 50.00 on a reciever upgrade. guess they figure since they are doing two jobs at once they are gonna pass some of the savings to the customer.

I just did it and it said I could get 2 722 for $199. That sounds good to me .

So I guess its a good deal then huh???? Thanks for the info guys....figured I would save about 40 bucks a month (that includes tivo fees) by switching

Dish used to have the 3 month free promotion with 2 years commitment. With the current promotion, it is a still better deal to commit. You will save $149 up front, plus 3 month free HBO/Starz ($60 value), and any referral like Clubdish will save aditional $30 dollar. If you cancel before 2 years, you will only pay $10 for each remaining month. So after 3 months, you will be already ahead of the no commitment.

Your better off with the committment!

I would really like to know why some people have problems signing a committment anyways?

The way I look at it is like this, if you cancel its $240 pro-rated over the 24 month period.

So you pay the $99 to do a no committment, its almost as bad as pre-paying the cancellation penalty because if your willing to spend $99 to waive a committment, what is the difference if you pay $140 more?

In additon, you think your doing the "smart" thing like doing a no committment, you screw yourself out of $60 in Free Movie Channels for 3 months, $60 in Free HD credits for 3 Months and anywhere from $25-$100 in a Dishstore rebate when you sign up with us as a new customer!

Do the math and pay $99 for a no commitment, here is what its actually costing you if you signed up with Top 100 and DISH HD Essentials...

$99 (No Commitment Fee)
$75 (Less Money back on Dishstore Rebate)
$30 (Less HD Programming credits)

Total $205

The cancellation fee is $240 people!

And thats what I would see for a typical customer I get from this site who signs up for service. If you really wanted HD Ultimate, instead of essentials then add another $30 to the bottom line bringing you in at $235, and it actually starts costing you money to do a no committment if you want HBO and Starz!

The other way to look at it is like this, how much money do you waste in a given month? I just got back from the Casino a few hours ago and lost $300, or how about if you got a SUV and spend $100 to fill up a tank of gas?

What I find is that the people who are on a tight budget that are should sign a no committment so they can cancel if something comes up, typically take the committment, and the people who have the money to pay the cancellation fees are worried they will not like it or can't afford to pay the bill!

If you want to see what a committment is really like, go buy a house or sign for a loan to get a new car. IMHO, the committments DISH Network and Directv have today are a Joke when it comes to what you'll actually pay in cancellation penalties considering they are pro-rated over the life of the contract.

The Value you get when you sign a committment with DISH or Directv far exceeds any cancellation fee you would have to pay if you didn't pay full price for the hardware and installation!

Im not saying you should sign up and cancel either, but by far doing a committment is a better deal for you as a customer!
