The mountain they need to climb is huge. They have been 2-3 games back in the wild card for two weeks now, and have not made up any ground. They need to start sweeping series' and hope the Yankees go on a two or three game losing streak a couple of times in the next month. This next series with Seattle starts tonight and they need to take two of those games from them.
The bad thing about being the Tigers right now, even if they beat Seattle twice this weekend, is the Yankees have the easiest remaining schedule in baseball. The only challenging games is a three game series against the Red Sox. Otherwise all they have is K.C. for three games, Baltimore for six games, Tampa Bay for three and Toronto for four.
