Lets see what happens when Shef and Kenny get back, then we'll see if they start playing better, if not, it's all over, however, I think they look to those two guy's for a lot of leadership.

Rogers is on the mound tonight. I believe tonight is the make it or break it point for Detroit. If Rogers comes out and is lights out and pumped up, the rest of the pitching staff will follow suit... ala the New York Series in the post season last year. If he is dull, then it is over.

You hit that one right on the nose Joe. I truly believe his presense last season had a large effect on the pitching staff, and can still have the same effect for the rest of this season. Rogers looked good last night, and the relievers followed suit, in a thrilling extra-innings victory. Maybe Sheffield can do the same for the hitting tonight. A glimmer of hope emerged last night....

Tigers are 3 back in the wild card, this week is crutial, they go head to head with Seattle. A sweep either way would put the other team out, if that happened at least the winning team would not have to dealwith passing more than one team.

Rogers and Sheff back in the lineup, Tigers almost have thier original starting lineup on the field for like the second time all year.
With all the injuries this year I'm amazed that they are even in the hunt.

The mountain they need to climb is huge. They have been 2-3 games back in the wild card for two weeks now, and have not made up any ground. They need to start sweeping series' and hope the Yankees go on a two or three game losing streak a couple of times in the next month. This next series with Seattle starts tonight and they need to take two of those games from them.

The bad thing about being the Tigers right now, even if they beat Seattle twice this weekend, is the Yankees have the easiest remaining schedule in baseball. The only challenging games is a three game series against the Red Sox. Otherwise all they have is K.C. for three games, Baltimore for six games, Tampa Bay for three and Toronto for four.

As Brandon Inge said last night. "Or backs are against the wall".

Only 5 games back, with 3 to play in Cleveland. We pick one more up before that series, take 3 from the Tribe..... suddenly things look differently. Maybe wishful thinking, but what did that cost me? Tigers are playing with some of last years swagger. I'm sure the return of Rogers and Sheffield have something to do with that.
