I got the version Wednesday. Since then, my HR34 Genie freezes what do you do about this I have to reboot alot of times a day HR34 Genie and its freezing ?
 
no freezes here on my HR34

usually a double red button reboot fixes everything.........
hit red button to reboot
let it go through the setup
once you see the "downloading guide" so ANOTHER red button reboot.

Sometimes guide info can corrupt the receiver. a double RBR dumps all the guide info
 
Iceberg, this is one that Sportman is right on. It's the same way for me. NOTHING fixes it. I have even double RBR'ed and unplugged it. I have disconnected the AM21. I have tried everything I can think of but the 740 software doesn't work for me either. My Genie unit is basically a paperweight. I have watched TV almost exclusively on my client because that will work sometimes. (more in a PM...)
 
ejb1980 did you try calling DirectTV about the 740 software freezing please get back to me and tell me if your is freezing ?
 
I told DirectTV their is Nothing the matter with installation like dish misalignment, cabling, multiswitches it got this way the freezing after 740 was downloaded when I call back what should I tell DirectTV get a receiver or what any ideas what to tell DirectTV ?

It's the software. Tonight, try this:
Reset the receiver. When it comes back on, reset it again. Then, unplug it and leave it unplugged overnight. In the morning, plug it back in. Let it do its thing and then see what happens. I did that and it's been better.
 
ejb1980 I will try it are you going to replace your receiver what model receiver do you have ?
 
If you have a HR34 then I would do is deactivate the receiver, in which they want back so they'll send you a return box to ship back, then afterwards see if they can upgrade you to the HR44, but the mini clients will not work until then, but if you have a H2x or HR2x then that'll be fine until you can upgrade, or you can ask for replacement for the Genie in which you have to return the other one in return for a tech install or self install new Genie, but it's no guarantee that you'll get the HR44 and might get another HR34, But a tech install is a more probable chance that you get the HR44 once you schedule for a replacement if your local installer carry them.

I have channels freezing and pixelation when chaning channels or sometimes going to chane a channel I called told DirectTV the first time DirectTV step by step me through their typical script of useless troubleshooting procedures their is Nothing the matter with installation like dish misalignment, cabling, multiswitches I had a supervisor out to exachange my first DVRHD34 this is my second one I did not call back yet this time what should I tell DirectTV get a receiver or is it the software only what do I tell DirectTV please get back to me please ?

I also have freezing during playback of recorded programs on my hr-34.
hopefully dtv will soon issue new software to correct this problem.
 
How do we know if there is a new software/firmware update? Are our boxes just automatically updated on the fly?
