My theory holds that DIRECTV doesn't have the backhaul capacity necessary to light up many more LIL markets. They've currently got enough downlink capacity for 1,000 LIL channels according to the plan (assuming that the DIRECTV 10 failures were as negligible as claimed). My math indicates that they have fewer than 400 up at this point (including RSNs).yep. let me clarify, the bulk of hd lil will be coming off this bird. but dtv10 is also obviously capable of hd lil as well.
Don't expect any updates until Thuraya 3 is dispatched.Any more updates on when DTV is going to get a launch date for Directv 11?
It would seem that if they haven't sailed yet, they're not going to make the 15th. Perhaps they have sailed and the website hasn't been updated.still no official updates at sea-launch.com tuesday morning either, although, other sites are reporting a january 14 or 15 thuaya 3 launch.
