DIRECTV Satellite is not currently available for new customers in your area

I just moved and had a new DTV dish installed this morning by Mastec. The installer had a trainee with him, so either they didn't get the memo yet, or they still have plans to continue to install in some markets for at least the next few years.

I believe you were an existing customer. They seem to be pushing new customers to the streaming side.

My stepdad had Directv to his house to fix the dish today because he had roof replaced Tuesday and had no signal after the roofer 'put the dish in the same spot' ;)

Still receive the same message-DIRECTV Satellite isn't available right now, so this looks to be the business model of the company looking forward.

How long before they start forcing Satellite Subscribers, like the ones calling in with an issue, requiring a truck roll, to switch to the streaming version.

That's only to be expected. What matters from them is a solid mounting that won't leak. And perhaps better than if there would be signal enough to come on but then not be reliable. Always expect to re-peak.

I wonder when DTV will decide to drop or severely cut or jack up prices on MyEntertainment. Push the captures to higher cost plans.

We have recorded several items under MyEntertainment but watched little. Wondering if it's even worth $35.

I should add, the signal where we RV is too weak to support much viewing.

NBD. Can't go there now anyway. Power problems and now the water system is down. Bad pump (they only have one?) and it's down to pumping sand and worse. Boil order suspended, as there's no water to boil.

I'm sick as a dog (where did THAT expression come from?), possibly from drinking some of that water earlier.

Not the point, is it better to pay the $35 or the roughy, $150 to Dish, for the exact same content you watch.

I prefer the streaming services, since I primarily watch new scripted content, but you do not usually watch that type of stuff.

I suspect they may decide dropping or ruining MyE could force enough onto higher plans to make it worthwhile. Decisions are not always good. But they could be right if they do that.

I pay <$120 to Dish.

We are watching mostly YT. Not YTTV. Might move to more Prime watching, and other free stuff. We pay for Prime anyway.

Decide after Great Food Truck Race returns.

I do not expect a price increase soon, DirecTV is about to add a few more Genre Packs, than give it a massive marketing push.

If it did go up, expect middle to end of next year, but so will Dish, Comcast, Charter, etc, etc.

So only a $85 a month price difference, or $1020 for the year….yech.

Again, based on the content you watch, at the minimum, you will want/need Discovery +
Decide after Great Food Truck Race returns.
Which will be on Discovery+.

While this may be OK for some, what about the person wanting to subscribe to satellite and add MLB Extra Innings? Can't do that with D* Stream. Unless D* is figuring with stream, you can sub to MLB.TV and just access out of market games that way.

Since I had not seen any news articles about this I contacted Cord Cutters yesterday to see if they knew anything about it. They replied back they would contact DIRECTV and try to get some details. These are the details I guess.

Not like it is a big surprise, we have know about it here for almost 2 weeks.

"…Which will be on Discovery+.…"

It's everywhere! ;)

Makes the cost of the H3 seem cheap! ;)

Well they are the exact same thing and the problem most people had with streaming sports is they were far behind sat/cable in getting the broadcast to the TV but I have noticed this year MLB-TV is about 5 seconds ahead of the Extra Innings satellite feed.

Thats just as easy. If you have the receiver that you can set up and its like a Directv receiver, you can download the streaming service right to the receiver so need to switch inputs

I'll note that this does not appear to be official news, but rather a regurgitation of the same anecdotal findings from this forum. I am curious to see how long before DTV makes an official statement about this. They eventually will have to.
