Bingo. Give that man a prize! That's exactly why I posted an answer to those saying it wasn't geared to non subs. If course not, at least at this time. Dish is a Satellite service, incorporating more ways to watch movies, including streaming. They are not a Movie rental company.

So streaming is limited to what the VOD channels are on Dish? If so Im assuming the VOD is now free for whatever movie you want (i.e. not $3.99 per movie or whatever it is). If the plan also includes Rentals (especially Bluray) than I might jump on it. But the streaming Im still confused about. If its just limited to what Dish already has on VOD I'm not impressed with that aspect. There needs to be a single post or page or something that explains everything the plan has and whats needed.

I'm wondering the same thing. I actually don't think E*'s VOD is that bad. It's obviously not Netflix, but theres a decent amount of "free" content and it usually plays instantly.
 
I just read that this id for the 622, 722 and 722k.. And that the 922 and 612 will be later.. Is this true?? They showed it on the 922.
 
Has anyone heard what the protocol is for Platinum subscribers currently enjoying the BlockBuster free 90 day trial??? Also, do you have to connect your receiver with broadband to be eligible for the mail discs?

But, but their announcement was supposed to be a Netflix killer. :)

But that's the PR guys and not you guys on the front line. :)

Blu-Ray is now officially dead (or "over" if you prefer) - because Star Wars was just released in that format (just as DVD died once Star Wars was released on it).

By the time you sign up for a disk-for-mail service, select disks and they are mailed to you, the next format will be introduced, run its course, and die. ;)
 
I don't get what dish sees in movies. With the decline of movie theater sales and the decline in bluray/DVD sales, I don't see how dish expects to maintain profits if people are simply not spending money on movies.

I get the whole fact that Charlie is trying to make their service different, but it hasn't worked so far. This is nothing more than a rebranded vod launch with DVD/game/bluray rental service attached! While it is kind of cool to have that ability, it doesn't wow me into signing up! It's not a got to have service! That's what I'm expecting, that got to have and can't live without kind of thing that is unique and can't be found anywhere else!

i just signed up for dish a month and a half ago and only got a 3 month trial of the blockbuster online. what are the chances of dish hooking me up or at least extending my trial?

i read somewhere that for existing at200 customers it'll be 40 for the year but that only came up on one source. can someone confirm or deny?

Blue ray is far from dead there will be lots of players under the Christmas trees this year with the black Friday deals .
Of course the media distributors prefer to replace it with streaming it lowers their cost and help the profit but it does not give better results and their are still large parts of the country without good broadband service
