I may change my wall mount dish due to storm damage. Presently I have a 1000+ western arc with LNBs 119, 110, 129, and 118.7 all connected to a DPH42 switch then two Hopper 3s. If I change the dish, will Dish use a 1000.2 or 1000.4 dish? I plan on using my two Hopper 3s.

The internationals are rapidly moving to streaming only. There should not be a use for that location any longer. I'd go with the 500 and equip it with a dpp+ lnb. That would still incorporate your 42 switch which is a requirement for you 2 H3s.

Thanks Bobby. Does the 1000.2 come with both the older LNBS and the hybrid LNBs?

The 1000.2 can accommodate either but in your case you have to use the DPP+ because you need the 42 switch to add in the hybrid part for your 2 H3s. The Hybrid lnb doesn't appear to play nice with the 42 switch.
I am starting to research the 1000.2 and .4 dish. I sure like the 1000.4 better because it is bigger. Do they still make the 1000.4 Western Arc setup?

I have no idea, HipKat is better served to answer that. I will say bigger is not always the answer. If you are, or were, served well with a Dish 500 nothing has changed and you would still be served well by it. Perhaps Scott, who has physically tried all of these dishes, could pop in here.

Thanks Bobby. Help help HipKat and Scott Greczkowski

500 would serve probably the best as it's designed with no compromise like the 1000(.2) to also take in 129. Also a bit more compact with less load on mounting. It's a very old dish at this point, but if we're back to just 110/119, and it uses the DPP Twin, well...

I think they relaunched the 500 with a new LNB since only 119/110 are needed any more. I'd like to swap out my 1000.2 but can't find one.

The Dish 300 was a single focus dish and was the only one they made with no compromise because it has only one focal point. The Dish 500 has dual foci and thus the dish while being parabolic in the top to bottom aspect is splayed open slightly in the horizonal aspect and had to have a larger surface area to partially compensate for being out of focus horizonally.

If a tech replaces it, it's most likely going to be a 1000.2 with wa dpp lnb. Offices won't really use the 500 until the 1000.2 inventory gets used up.

Not using 1000.4 anymore so no one will have them on the truck. But they're so much heavier that it puts more stress on a normal mount. They're supposed to have a braced mount but hardly any techs ever carried the proper mount either lol.
