Dish Change Question

The Dish 300 was a single focus dish and was the only one they made with no compromise because it has only one focal point. The Dish 500 has dual foci and thus the dish while being parabolic in the top to bottom aspect is splayed open slightly in the horizonal aspect and had to have a larger surface area to partially compensate for being out of focus horizonally.
Right, and then the Triple needed just a bit more size...the 500 was still not a bad compromise for size. It's when DiSH started going behind my back taking out 500s for SD & 3/4 (SW34) switch that I got my back up.
I think they relaunched the 500 with a new LNB since only 119/110 are needed any more. I'd like to swap out my 1000.2 but can't find one.
I don't think that the 500 ever officially went away, but the last LNBF offered for it "back in the day" was the DPP Twin. It has 2 outputs (plus an input) and supports 2 ViP dual-tuner rx's directly by coax w/o switch. Does hopper need yet a further-advanced LNBF?
2. Since most installs are Hoppers, the new 500 Dish w/DPH TWIN WA LNBF
VIPS, Wallys and Hopper Duo still get 1000.2 WA DPP Triple LNBF's
What is "DPH Twin"? I don't think a 500's LNBF would need to be designated as for WA unless they were also putting out 500 for EA (were they?)

What is Hopper Duo? I thought hoppers had like 7 tuners.

Here is what I want HipKat, if possible. I want to do a pole mount with Dish 500 and dual LNBs with both coax going to my DPH42 switch, then to two Hopper 3s. Will that work? Also, does your company work as far south to O'Fallon, IL?
You mean like, Dual DP Singles??
I don't know any reason why they wouldn't work unless the DP doesn't fly with the DPH Switch

And I believe so, just not sure if that's our Mt Vernon office or Scott City or Pittsfield

No, I mean the TWIN WA LNBF with the new Dish 500. I think I would like a contractor company like yours for my install, if possible. Can you provide a link to your company again? I lost your link when my computer crashed and I had to get a new one.

Would Dish approve a new pole mount setup and take down my old wall mount 1000+? Or, the wall siding company could take it down when they install new siding. That would be nice to have the new dish install done first.

No, I mean the TWIN WA LNBF with the new Dish 500.
First, the Dish 500 antenna ITSELF is not a new dish; it's the very same from back when it first came out back around 2005.

The (alleged) DPH twin WA LNBF, that nobody else has seen yet, IS new & supposedly fits on the same "Y" yoke on the existing Dish 500 antenna. And just like the any of the DPH LNBF's, it will NOT work with a DPH42 switch, period.

If you want a Dish 500 antenna & still need to use your DPH42 switch, you would need either a DP twin, DPP twin or (2) DP single LNB's, all which also fit on the same "Y" yoke.

OK, thanks dishrich. So what I want is twin DP or DPP twin. So what about my second question in my post about Dish doing pole install and remove my old dish from the wall because of storm damage siding?

I don't know for sure, as I don't work for DISH, but I would think they would...but you'll need to confirm with whomever does it.

Also, isn't there any parts of your house that have a solid, flat mounting surface, that you could have the dish mounted on instead? Like a fascia area, etc.? It would sure make things a lot quicker/easier & you wouldn't have to deal with burying the cable... ;)

OK, thanks. No, all my stuff is in the basement. See my Avitar. The wall is the best area. When ever the satelittes run out of fuel, the pole mount would be easy to remove and no holes left in the wall.

Yeah, beat me to that one. 500 goes way back. Back to when, well, the chatter was about a "500-channel universe". So that's basically how it got its name. Dish didn't have enough xpdrs at a single location (like DTV did at 101) to keep expanding ch's. The original single dish wasn't dubbed the "300" until after the 500 came out, to differentiate. Initially they used 2 regular ("300") LNBFs, either single or dual, and required a switch in the line(s), then came the regular (non-DP) Twin, which eliminated the switch for some installs, then the DP Twin, and then after that, the DPP Twin. There were also the DP & DPP (300) Singles & Duals that would go on it. Perhaps DiSH's most-installed dish.

I remember being shocked that they used a plastic "Y" on it. I was sure that would never hold up, but I guess for the most part they have.

They'll do a pole mount if that's what you want

Other than every Dish tech in the country since this is what we've been installing for WA Hopper 2 and 3 installs for months now....
Well something doesn't make sense, because I posed this question on Claude's dealer board & nobody there has seen &/or heard of it, either. (not sure if you are an independent dealer, or if your company is an RSP for DISH, but if you're the later, maybe that's why you guys are getting these LNBF's...)
AND...while I understand the subs on this board are a fraction of E* subs, not a single member here has mentioned getting one of these, that has been installed "for months now". Is it some deep, dark trade secret that prevents you from posting a simple pic of this???

FWIW, I also mentioned re: EA being retired & several techs responded that not only have they not heard a thing about this, but in fact, as recently as a week ago, they are STILL being sent work orders with EA dishes. Matter of fact one of the board admins is a larger dealer that installs in 2 different EA DMA's & has not heard a thing about it going away. And considering the couple of dealers that mentioned this are pretty up on E*'s procedures, I find it hard to believe they missed notices from E*.
