Ok this is DUMB...

If you have a 211 and a tailgater and wants a Hopper setup you will need a seperate account for the 211 so you can use the Tailgeter.

This one is going to make some folks mad.

My dad recently moved out to his own place and I had to decide getting him cable or DISH, and when I compared the costs DISH won out.

(Hell the cable company even charges you per remote control!)

i agree with that but dish is starting to get closer to cable in fees than competing with direct in whole home dvr

Yea that I can agree with Scott.I would have figured Dish would have wanted to make it a bit more enticing for existing customers.Having to pay more fees per month isn't very enticing imo.Not to mention atm you would be losing 1 or 2 ota tuners per receiver.

We won't do that until March 15th as the DIRT team will not have Hopper options available to them on their screens until that time.

I am very excited about this! I can go from 2 722s and a 612 and have basically the same bill (actually a $2 decrease) and have much more functionality than i have now!

I dropped dish in December because I could not get HD on a 4th television. I had a 922 and two 622's. If I get 2 hoppers and 2 joeys my fees will actually be less. I was already paying the $10 fee for the DVR because of the 922. I actually only used my dvr's as single source units. With this scenario I'll have HD on 4 televisions at a lower price.

They are in line with the other providers. I never thought the first Joey would be free. I never though Dish would undercut the other guys.

I go from a 922 and a 211 for $14 more per month. I am willing to spend it though, I have 4 HDTV's so right now 2 of the are SD. I like the total home convenience, no more trying to figure out what to record in our bedroom the 211 or in the living room on our 922.

How can they charge 7 per joey when there is no tuner built in. Directv charges 7 a month plus another 3 for the whole home dvr service, but each of there boxes have a tuner in them.

The average user doesn't care as long as they have TV.

My disappointments:

1) Unreasonable fees on Joeys.
2) No OTA tuner module (yet).
3) No dual Hopper integration (yet)!
4) No operations over IP network.

One wonders what else will "hit the fan" before March 15th rolls around.

A few things...

The folks from DISH were watching your comments and feedback carefully during the chat and they ARE paying attention!

First they are telling me they are seeing what can be done about people with Tailgaters so they don't need a seperate account. (Keep your fingers crossed there guys!)

Now on to a few other things that I got comments on...

1) Two hoppers will be on same network at launch - so use Duo Node - no isolators needed. They will behave like two separate networks and once the new software downloads they will share content. Which means at launch you need two sling adapters also

2) This is not verified yet, however in theory if you use the Hopper Internet Connector - then one connector should give internet access to entire system.

3) When comparing a 722 and 211's to Hopper and 2 (or 3) Joeys you are not comparing apples to apples. With Hopper you are getting DVR functionality in every room, plus all the additional features that the Hopper and Joey system give you including access to Pandora, Facebook and access to you music collections over DLNA. Not to mention all the speed and Prime Time Anywhere. Going from the 722/211 setup to a Hopper Joey setup is like going from a mid range Honda to supper speedy mussle car.

4) Someone said they have one tv and if they can only have 1 Hopper and no Joey's and I said yes... that answer is correct but the way the DISH system is setup you will be charged $10 for the whole home DVR service, its just the way the system is setup. (So my advice is to buy a second TV and get a Joey.)

DIRECTV also charges $7 per outlet even if it has no tuner in it, such as a HR34 with a Samsung RVU compatable television.
