Dish Remote w/AKAI TV - Codes don't work

I did a search and found someone else had this problem with no resolution posted a few months ago.

I bought an AKAI LCD TV at Costco, just something for the family room. I wanted to program the Dish Remote (622) so the non-tech types could use only one remote, but the 4 AKAI codes in the book do nothing.

I searched the internet, and read that these TVs are made by Samsung. So, I tried all of the Samsung codes with a negative result.

I then tried the "search" procedure, with no results.

Has anyone figured out if these TVs will work with a Dish Remote?

(I tried a couple of older Dish remotes (921/6000), and they don't work either.

Nope, if the code search failed you are pretty much out of luck. Essentially what it does is go through the entire codebase for the remote trying to get one that works. If you weren't able to get one through that procedure then there isn't a code for your TV in the remote. If you want to keep it simple for the techies I'd recommend getting a Harmony remote. A bit more expensive than some other universals but they work great.

For those with AKAI TV/DVD combo's like mine, I just got the new Dish 20/21 remotes, and low and behold, they have the AKAI code in them!! It's '612' for the TV. This code gives full function to the TV, but only partial function of the built in DVD player, but it's better than nothing! (I may get around to programming the DVD function myself)
