I don't think it should be advertised either on other voom channels.

The term "Homophobe" has become nothing more than a way of attacking anyone who doesn't totally accept, condone, or participate in a gay lifestyle. It's used to belittle someone's opinion and to vilanize those that have a less than endorsing belief of homosexuality. Really ignorant to label someone as such in most cases as most folks have no real fear, just a dislike of homosexual behavior.

Each person has a freedom to like or dislike what they choose. My personal opinion is that I don't want my nephews or nieces to be exposed to this type of thing and I would rather the channel be locked by default and no promotions be run on other channels, but that's just me.

And again I will state my opinion. It is the flaming gay hosts, the in your face flaunting packaging and advertising of the channel that upsets people the most. Drag queens, crossdressers etc. It is sickening.

you are correct, no one would have noticed if you spread the movies over all the channels. But that is not what Voom has done.

As for the voom exclusive movies, Yes I would still be upset. They are crap IMO. If there is a price increase next year I for one will be out of here. I couldnt justify paying anymore when voom is showing 10 HD channels of old B or C movies and 2 non major league sports channels (rush and worldsport). Let alone a gay movie channel.

I don't, and I don't think that it matters. Using your logic vurbano I would bet that more heterosexuals than homosexuals watch Divine. Does it mean that heterosexuals are more interested in this channel than homosexuals?

Its a matter of ratings and justification for the channel. If there are no homosexual subs then there really is no audience for a gay channel with the crossdressers, flamers and lesbians Divas. And if that is the case then disband the channel and run the movies on the other channels. Unless this is really just a channel where gays can watch the flaming Divas.

Franky I do not really care if you or anyone else feels gays are good, bad, evil, nice etc. as this is SATELLITE forum not a forum where you should be airing your beliefs as they have nothing to do with Satellite.

Pardon me but one of the options of this poll is "Gay and Lesbian is not appropriate family viewing" and another one is that it should not be advertised on other channels.

And you allow the poll to exist and expect for users to vote and not to air their opinion on the matter?

Either delete the poll and the thread or expect to hear the opinions, they are the basis for the way people voted. With all due respect "Wake up"

Wow guess I opened up a can of worms here. It was not my intent to bash anyone but to bring to the attention of Voom (if they read this stuff) that there are subscribers who may have an opinion on their labeling of channels.As I said in another post on this topic I actually like some of the programing on this channel and am sure some of us hetero's would not mind the programing if it weren't being pushed at us as a "G&L" channel. I would like to see movie channels listed by genre like "Sci-Fi,Western,Drama,Comedy etc...."not by what is obviously a political and moral hot potato in our society. I would watch a " Musical and Broadway" channel as I was in all of the ones in High School as a singer. My biggest concern is the ads on channels like Rush that my young son watches he loves skateboarding and motocross and I don't think a "Political/Moral " agenda should be presented to him like it is. The other thing is the poll obviously doesn't reflect the views of the most vocal posters here but I see little from the silent majority explaining why it is OK to cross advertise the channel of the biologically irrelevant non pro-creators.

I don't think that Voom is "pushing a homosexual agenda" as much as they are supplying customers with what they want.

So, DivineHD is not appropriate for family viewing? Is there a backlash against Playboy Hot HD? Granted, it is a premium service, but you can still block out Divine HD from your favorites guide. I personally don't care about it one way or the other.

Let us get something straight (no pun intended): Just because you supply a gay channel doesn't mean you are pushing gay values any more than supplying Playboy means you are pushing sexist values or objectifying women.

Just because you don't want to see it doesn't make you a homophobe. Not wanting to see something is not always based on fear, so it isn't a phobia.

I don't watch BET, but I am not a racist. I do not watch Divine, but I am not a homophobe. They just don't have much that interests me. Vurbano, you can look at it this way: with Divine HD up and running, it will pull all that genre off of the other exclusive channels to consolidate it into one easy to block channel.

I personally think that branding the HD Cinema 10 channels is a great idea, but there will certainly be some channels people don't like. I just don't watch those and watch the other ones more. It would be nice if they had a Sci-Fi HD Movie channel, but I don't think they have enough titles to make an actual channel out of that genre yet.

Of course, I don't get the big controversy with gay marriage, either. I don't see how I am personally harmed by it. Nobody is being harmed, it is consenting adults and it costs me nothing financially, so I have no damages I can show. Case closed in my book.

My main question is what are the other HD Cinema channels eventually going to look like? We have HD World Cinema, Divine HD, Epics and what else? There are classics and westerns a-plenty on the channels. What other formats will the other channels adopt? And where is my Sci-Fi?

How do you block the ads on other channels? How do you block the cross dresser on the red couch that appears on the other 20 channels? It is out of control. I dont see Playboy Porn stars on the red couch.

I dont think there is any problem with the movies on this channel if they eliminated the other crap. Especially the Divas advertising for the channel on the other exclusive channels!

I think we will probably see them tone down the advertising for Divine HD pretty soon, as it won't be the newest channel they have to tout and also because of people saying they don't want to see that advertised on their other channels.

As a professional researcher who has done many opinion polls, the choice of where the ads appear or not should not be a choice but a separate question. Actually all the questions are written with a profound bias.

The problem with this poll is that several of the choices are not mutually inconsistent. I agree with three and a half of the choices. I agree that Divine does not represent a movie genre, although I'm not sure what officially makes something a genre. In any event, to me that is not a reason to get rid of it. So I have to vote no on the first choice, although I partly agree with the sentiment.
I agree with the other three. I don't have kids, but I personally don't think that Divine is appropriate for family viewing -- at least not for most families, without careful parental thought and guidance about it. I also don't think it should be cross-promoted (no pun intended) on other channels because it will offend or annoy people, and expose kids to things their parents might not want to talk to them about yet. But I don't think that everything on Voom needs to be appropriate for family viewing, and, in fact, much of what is on network, cable, and satellite TV is not appropriate for family viewing, in my opinion.
So I selected the "its ok let it stay" option.

Gee did not know I was capable of "profound bias" but I gave an option of letting it stay it is OK which is favored by 50% of the voters so I guess it is not too profound. It seems that my main concerns are justified though and that is the promos on other channels labeling it the Gay and Lesbian channel even though it is called Divine are not what people really want to see. The programming is ok the promotion ( and the way it is done) is not if I get the drift of the posts here. I thank all of you for posting your views this has been a good discussion.
