Dpp44 Power Inserter

I just installed a dpp44 switch and after numerous attempts I could not get it to locate any satellites. FINALLY i removed the POWER INSERTER from the installation and it detected the switch and the satellite.

what is going on?

power inserter must be put on port 1

also it must be plugged in and the light should be on.


It could be that you have a bad power supply.


Yes the swith will work with the inserter, but it was not designed to work that way, and can overload your receivers.

During the Check Switch operation, it did 38 tests when the inserter was connected. When i disconnected the inserter there were only 4.

Regarding the LIGHT---the light was only active when I had the inserted connected backwards (This is because the label is quite a bit confusing where it reads "TO RECEIVER SATELLITE IN"

When i had it hooked up backward I noticed the light on. When I had it hooked up correctly the light was not working.

I think if he has a 1000.2 lnb, I don't believe it will work with the 44 switch (it did run 4 tests).

Please correct me if I am wrong.

i have 1000.2 with DPP 44SW works with no problems. check your connections it sounds like stinger might be a little bit short. also the light have to be on on power supply no mater how it is hocked up

yep, the stinger issue crept up on me with my 1000 integrated lnb and DPP44. Drove me nuts until I closely looked at each cable.

Okay.. over the last two months i have learned a lot about Dish Network equipment and setups. But I'm unfamiliar with what you're referring to as a STRINGER.

As for the LNB, it is a Dish 500 DP Twin LNB.

the wire that exposed after you strip it. according to the manual it should be only size of the nickle after you slide connection on but on switches you want to make them longer

the Stinger: is the little piece of metal that sticks out of the coax cable (the actual wire itself)

For some reason... the DPP 44 likes to have a whole bunch of wire sticking out the end of the coax, instead of the standard width of a nickel. I think sticks out 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch.

I was told with the 625 receiver that I do not need a power inserter. but with the legacy receivers I will. So does that mean i have to purchase a new inserter for EVERY receiver?

Or is this entire idea flawed?

The power inserter is for the switch. You use only ONE power inserter and it connects to port ONE of the switch. The rest of the receivers connect directly to the switch. Legacy receivers do not require a DP adaptor either.
