Is there any difference in using a PCIe card over USB? Other than convenience?

Is it worth getting the dual tuner model?

I think there is an open source card out there. Is there any benefit to that when not running in a Linux environment

I am looking to get 4:2:2 and have the ability to record/transcode feeds.

I currently have a GEOSATpro MicroHD with a 36" KU motorized setup. I am looking to upgrade to a 8.5' mesh dish for Ku/C band signals.

Thanks in advance!

I like having a dual tuner card because I use 1 input for C-Band and the other for KU.

I use my TBS6983 card with Windows 7 and EBS Pro streaming to VLC. Never tried it with Linux or Open Source software, and I don't have a USB tuner to compare it to.

I have used both. I prefer the PCI(e) cards. The USB tuners would stay on when the software was shut down and I preferred that they would shut down instead of having to power off the PC.
