EchoStar Announces Spectrum Sale and Commercial Agreement with SpaceX

wonders how much longer before charlie buys dtv if he does 🤔?? i say let em go broke and buy everything for pennies on the dollar!!! there's been rumors flying around after the sale of spectrum there could be another merger... There's no way in hell ide want dtv to buy dish :facepalm. ide def bounce!!!
I think the loses Bruce shows is that Dish will crash before Direct? The quarterly losses are staggeringly high.

i heard dish has a surplus of 24 billion after the sale of spectrum.. how much cash does direct have since breaking up with att 🤔

First the comment was waiting for Direct to go belly up and buy for pennies on the dollar. Why would any company buy a dying company while they are dieing faster? I see it as a lose lose, as it appears to be completely outdated service? What can Dish do different? Just because you have money, what can be different? They both have a streaming service, which is more profitable?

who would invest in a failing company is beyond me. i think they should remain seperate people are gonna flock to other places. tv won't be the same in 5 years!!! though while there loosing subs there still making some profit
I assume both companies would like to have the others subscribers to stave off failing as long as possible.

While Dish has about 3 million less satellite subscribers, DirecTV loses more subscribers every year, about 1 million for Dish, 2 Million for DirecTV.

So if that rate continues, in about 2-3 years, DirecTV will have less Satellite subscribers than Dish, unfortunately at that point, both companies will be unprofitable.

Unless either company can make their online offerings profitable, but doubtful for Dish, seems to be a exodus from Sling, ever since DirecTV started their Genre Packs.

We set up phones "outside the hood" daily. The rate of new subs is accelerating, quarterly but even Dish internals agree there should have been a rebranding and not using the Boost name. I assume it was just cheaper than a completely new rollout and marketing of a new brand
The problem with a rebrand is they are going to waste a ton of money building market awareness.

Its like when AT&T bought DIRECTV, at first they put the DIRECTV and AT&T logo side by side, and then slowly started to get rid of the DIRECTV logo to the point where I believe it was the AT&T Globe with the DIRECTV name before they got sold again.

You almost got 3 re-brandings. First is the introduction to the new brand name, then you have the phasing out period and finally just the new name.

All of which costs money which Dish is not going to see for at least another 18-24 months.

Only difference here with AT&T is that they had money to piss away.

As far as Boost selling outside the inner cities, sure its bound to happen, especially for Dish subs wanting a cheaper alternative for their cell phone service.

If you look at the business model that Xfinity and Spectrum have going on, converting their corporate stores into cell phone stores. Its been a great success!

Don't care about spectrum stuff for multiple reasons. Even though straightforward interaction among gov't and industries is good (does not happen much and boring details not included here because this forum is about getting a view of entertainment regardless of how).

I would like a Hopper interface (the best which is very important) with multiple tuners that lets me access sats and streaming and antenna tv along with apps (some thin glike plus which I do not have) that I can use to get other stuff and DVR.
I'm not much concerned about my TV, in the greater scheme. I have DiSH and a 722k and that's all I need from DiSH

DTV could be a good investment if cheap enough. C. could use the combined (remaining) customer base to negotiate lower programming rates, and just play it (& DiSH) out to wherever their ends are whilst growing his mobile base.

Charlie is not going to have that money for another 18-24 months, meanwhile the company is going to continue to burn cash. Only lifeline Charlie has right now is I believe Elon is paying the debt payments

The satellite tv companies are some of many hundreds of companies that either were or are in decline and are a stable investment for decades during their decline.
They can be quite profitable.
The managers are skilled at managing decline -not growth.

EchoStar/Dish satellite tv service is going to be around in some form for decades.

How, Dish Network is down to 5.3M subscribers, losing about a million a year now, in about 2-3 years, if the losses continue as they have, they will be unprofitable.

And let's not forget that Echostar has more going for it than just Dish.
