Answer by Charlie: There is going to be a convergence between video and broadband down the road, we need to look into the infrastructure and see how this can lead us to the next step. Talk about the AT&T box which it is a combination of video from satellite and broadband from the internet provider. We want to give customers the option. We do not know how this is going to turn out but we are proceding as we need to be prepared to survive in that environment. We have done this and keep our balance sheet strong.
 
q. Stock buy back, and why dish wants to be a internet service provider


A. Charley says wegie board and looking at all the options and dish is a conservitive and cofomrtable where there at with stock buy backs.

consumers want triple play services. Dish is looking at the investtment of ISP. Looking at a braudband connection that does video.. Charley thinks dish is well positioned for what they think the future is.
 
Do you want to partner with other providers down the road?

Ans: I do not think we need one right now but if the opportunity arises we will look at that opportunity when it comes.

a. short answer dish does not feel like they have to partner.. Charley likes being an independant company..
 
Do you think it will be easier to merge with D* this time? I am not the one to answer that question.

Why is the churn rate a little higher than a year ago? Lifetime could have contribute to the churn rate. The price increase also can have an impact. Also the compatitive attitude of cable with their triple play offer also is another possible contribution to the churn rate.
 
One Dish Solution what is the status of this vs the deadline? 100 Million compliance with the deadline? David, ans, most of the market that were two dish are one dish with the deployment of echostar X. At this point we do not expect problem and will comply with the one dish deadline and the expenditure will be minimal to do this. We also have 24 + 11 markets HD LIL. 95% SD LIL and over 40% with HD LIL. All in one dish. On international channels supedish will continue. We do not have total market for echostar X for all markets and this is the only problem that may occur.
 
Tivo question... how are you going to prepare if Tivo wins and you no longer can deploy DVRs? We believe we are going to prevail. If we lose, we will pay for the license but we believe that we are going to prevail. This is going to be a long process. The first round is over but we believe that at the end of the day we will continue to provide DVRs to our customers.
 
It seems like Wall Street is very interested in getting a merge of both E* and D*. This question kept coming up on both conferences and more now about the technology merge if that happens.
 
yeah they seem to think that both sat companies by themselves will struggle against cable. Especially now that cable seems to have a strong hold on the three services that they provide and with FIOS on the horizon they can see how this could take customers away from both satellite companies.
 
q about att and dish partnership.

Att is not as a signifigant growth for subs this last term. Att is focused on video offering and Prodject light speed. 2 wire media portal is comeing later this year..
