Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Yes, Disney+ is experiencing a decline in subscribers in the United States. Specifically, Disney's report showed that Disney+ lost 700,000 subscribers in Q1 2025, following price increases and the expiration of certain promotions. This decline, while anticipated by Disney, marks a shift from the positive subscriber growth seen in previous periods.
Why are you trolling, once again, in Q2 2025, the quarter after yours-

AI Overview

In Disney's most recent earnings report, Disney+ unexpectedly added 1.4 million subscribers,
according to multiple news sources Disney shares climb 10% on surprise uptick in streaming subscribers, earnings beat. This positive surprise came despite prior expectations of a modest decline, Variety reports. The total Disney+ subscriber count now stands at 126 million

HOWEVER, if one is a sports fan, DISH is still a viable option. I pay a total of $77.98 month drive out for the TOP120, which includes ESPN channels and more sports than I can watch on several other channels. It's more than enough "new content" for me, but then I don't live in front of a TV. What would really kill satellite and cable TV would be a standalone ESPN streaming service, IMO.
Starts up in less than 3 months.

Did you see my response?
That response was to repeat the Q1 2025 information, so, again, I reported the Q2 2025 information, which showed they gained back the 700,000 lost in Q1 2025, plus another 700,000 to the positive, which is a gain.

Here's another

That is the 3rd time you have posted/repeated Q1 2025 information.

I am expecting DISH to file within the next few weeks. Honestly the sooner they do it the better.

As I said it can save the company. However my big fear is for the retailers who sell DISH Network as the courts may rule that they lose their payments including residuals, since retailers would be considered creditors and not employees of DISH Network.

That is the only downside I see. But with reorganization we could see a bright future for DISH. I still ultimately see DISH partnering up with someone like Amazon on the phone / internet side of things. And with Amazon launching their own satellite internet service they have a great partner who's been doing satellite internet for a long time and could manage and control the new Amazon fleet, without reinventing the wheel.

And like I said before... I do expect at some point DISH will own DIRECTV.

The DISH story is not over, just going to be changing to a new chapter. (Well besides Chapter 11 lol.) :D

Sling needs to add Locals. It's the only reason I wouldn't use them.

I have said before that Sling TV and DISH TV are under the same company. They could provide the satellite locals by streaming them to Sling customers and make the option to have them for the price that DISH charges. I have seen other streaming apps make premium channels available using their interface so they are all included in the same app. Should be able to do the same with Sling TV too. It might make Sling TV more attractive providing the option to have all the locals if they want to pay the $12.00 that DISH charges. IF they want to save money they can still use their antenna to provide their locals for free.

Article makes some good points.

Too bad we will likely see a decision based on emotions not logic.
Someone else pulled the strings to even have the FCC "investigate" this. That someone's star is now in declination, though they are trying to regain favor after their online teenaged maturity spat on social media.

I can envision a prepackaged bankruptcy with a small bond carve out for the judge to decide.
EchoStar already had agreement with the majority of their bondholders to roll the debt.
A small group held out.
The judge could easily say their "crumbs" get swept up in a new deal - possible stock or pennies on the dollar for the bonds>

Regarding the retailers.
In a hybrid sales system , the judge would be faced with the possibility of firing a large portion of the sales staff that bring in the customers (the retailers).
They need the retailers to keep the business going so some kind of arrangement would likely protect their income.

Regarding satellite TV. It would end up in some new entity rolling Dish and Directv together which was almost a done deal this winter.

And, the wireless business (largely built out) can be a great success if the bond servicing costs go away - converted to stock or pennies on the dollar.

They still have the problem of attracting customers, which in five years ( a loss of 1.8M subscribers to Boost), they have shown no ability in marketing to do so.

I wanted to sign up for Boost just for their new Tablet offer they have.

The won't sell to me as I won't also sign up for a new voice line. I don't want a voice line, I want the 5G Tablet. Maybe if when my contact with my current provider is up I may consider it based on how good the service works on the tablet. But Boost was not interested. So I walked. I was even willing to pay a little more each month for the tablet service, and they said no voice line then no tablet or tablet line.

You think they would want everyone to see how good their network is, since its supposed to be a full 5G network. I will agree with Bruce, their marketing sucks.

I have always thought the marketing sucked, even before the 5G debacle.

The only thing that worked, well before cord cutting became supercharged, was when they were advertising they were cheaper than DirecTV, which did work, up to 14 Million Satellite Subscribers, now a little over 5 Million, one of the reasons is because they are no longer the lower price leader.

That type of marketing will not work with Boost, because T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T will just snuff Boost out in a price war, if it gains any momentum.

And just saying Boost/Dish has a 5G Network is not enough, because the others do also.
