Skyreport just issued a breaking news item on this...

BREAKING NEWS: DISH/Rainbow Deal Wins FCC OK
Courtesy of SkyReport.COM

This morning, the International Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission reported that EchoStar's proposed acquisition of satellite assets once controlled by Rainbow DBS won regulatory approval. The Rainbow DBS assets were used by Rainbow to deliver services for the now-defunct VOOM satellite TV service.

EchoStar had agreed to purchase Rainbow 1, a satellite located at 61.5 degrees, together with the rights to 11 DBS frequencies at that location. The satellite includes 13 frequencies, up to 12 of which can be operated in spot beam mode. EchoStar also operates from the 61.5-degree location.

May the uplinking and shuffling of TP's begin! That is, to make room for more future channels, hopefully HD LIL for the east coast.

Yes! Yes! Hooray! Bring on the Wasington, DC HD LILs - yesterday! We already have our 61.5 dish - Git-R-Done, Charlie! WooHoo!

No its not.. as 129 allready has westcoast hd networks..

On test / engineering channels! If those channels ever get proper channel IDs and EPG data, I'd be a little more confident in the west coast HD networks on 129 :)

do you mean that they may be for CBS, NBC, ABC and fox from LA or NY, like directtv has?

Yea but there still there... I think the reason why they dont have those proper channel id's and epg data is because of this sale.. now that the sale has gone through i bet within the next month or so the east coast networks will be added at 61.5 and both east and west will emerge.. along with a few more hd channels and e* will be set as far as hd goes for mpeg4 trasition.. after that hopefully all new hd will be mpg4 and then let the trasnition begin.

I think they'll have to get a dish 1000. by the way, could someone please provide me the link where I can see where it is listed the channels/transponders for Dish net satellites? thanks!

So those of us who only are getting 110/119 will have to have another dish for more HD programming (if there is LOS). That stinks.

Can only get 119 sat.

just left cable dish noob :)
