Fox Business Network

I just think(Just a personal opinion) that FOX fails consistently to deliver on its promise to be "Fair and balanced" and their business channel will likely be more of the same.

And I'll be happy to debate your position in the proper forum. But I'm tired of political views and off-color remarks cluttering up a simple question. With that said, I too believe that withing a year Dish will carry this channel. I can wait though; it's not high on my list of wanted channels. Perhaps by the time Dish picks up this channel their programming will be worth the wait. IE: SD 16:9, side bars, real HD.

There are 5 other bussiness channels we don't need another.

We also have dozens of movie channels but if Starz came along and wanted to add 10 multichannels to the lineup, most would not object.

Just because you don't want another business channel doesn't mean nobody does.

Consider this, you live in a small town and pull up to the stoplight (only one in town) and see a McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Arbys. You want something nicer. You want to sit down and have a nicer meal. You want Carabbas or Outback but your small town doesn't have one. That is how people feel when you say there are already five channels. "Hey, you already have four places to eat in your town, who needs another?"

Take others into consideration why don't you?

QUOTE=skottey;1143723]There is huge demand for this channel, so the answer to both your questions should be yes.

Oh really? How can you prove that?

By the the way, I apologize for offending anyone by expressing my opinion....what was I thinking? I must have thought this was a forum where people expressed opionons......no wait.....it is!

Chill people!
People are free to express opinions on the subject matter at hand. You didnt. You took a valid question and sent it in a different direction with views about the political aspects of a channel that doesnt apply in this thread.

Feel free to talk, just please stay on subject.:up

I watch a lot of the CNBC programming, partly for the entertainment value since on the business shows the panelists mostly disagree with each other and sometimes even themselves. I saw a show yesterday (Friday) where one guy made a very strong comment on the subprime housing fiasco, and then about 5 minutes later said "...I might be wrong on the subprime issue, and if I am, then I'm really, really wrong..."

That said, I have noticed recently (last few months) that CNBC is beginning to adopt overtly Democratic postures with regard to business issues and to cite Democratic candidates as authorities on various business issues. As a result, it is clear that we now need this:

.....FBN, more Fair and Balanced News

Columnist Tim Rutten (LA Times) recently wrote a nice article on the transposition (transformation?) of the NBC networks (MSNBC, etc.) from essentially fair news and commentary networks to Democratic party mouthpieces. According to Rutten, this is not done because GE, owner of the NBC networks, has a liberal philosophy, but because they want to make money by appropriating a portion of the audience for themselves that is not dedicated to watching Fox. Rutten also commented that CNN is becoming increasingly xenophobic and anti-immigrant as a way of distinguishing itself from the group and becoming relevant again, thus seemingly in Rutten's view making itself increasingly irrelevant to intelligent conversation.

Bloomberg continues to have excellent business news, but their programming is a bit dry. FBN sounds as if it would be an attractive alternative. I am one of the undoubtedly hundreds of thousands who would watch FBN if it were available on Dish.

Best regards,
Fitzie

betting money says that adding another business news channel is way down the priority list for Dish..most people seem to want local HD, sci fi/usa/regional hd sports channels...I rarely if ever see alot of clammoring for more business channels...i think lots of folks view them in a similar vein as they do shopping channels..
What makes it really difficult to gauge is the fact that less than 1% of satalite viewers frequent forums like this, so its hard for the people here to really know what the other 99% really wants..

Of course I understand but we do not need any more bussiness or sports channels until we get LOGO or one of the other gay themed channels.

Yes, we who desire FBN, do need another business channel. Hopefully sooner than later.

I believe that there is such a demand for it, DISH will add it just to keep up with Direct and cable.

Thanks,
Rick

How was I the one that took a valid question and sent it in a different direction? I think you are mistaken. I am the one calling for the Fox News Channel right wing complainers to go to the pit.

I don't know what circles you run in but I don't know anybody that views business channels in similar vein as they do shopping channels. There is a huge demand for Fox Business.

I get both on cable. Your Logo channel is two doors down from Fox Business with Bright House. I think Dish should add both the channels. As big as Dish is they really should carry Logo and of course Fox Business from day one.

how about a poll on the topic?

How about we just drop it and the moderator lock this thread! As the OP of this topic, I just asked a simple question. I did not intend to get anyones political view and am pissed I got it.

MODERATOR - PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD AND I AM SORRY FOR POSTING ON THIS BOARD!

Don't get pissed at anything on a message board like this. It is not worth it. If you are human like the rest of the posters you have your own life with its set of real world problems. It is not worth losing sleep over these boards. It is only the Internet.

Anyone think the Newscorp/Directv connection have anything to do with Dish not promptly adding FBN and also FNC's placement in the higher packages?

No. I honestly don't think so.

They are more concerned with acquiring subscribers with Fox Business. Rupert is letting (pushing) Neil (to) grow this channel. They have a three year goal of beating CNBC in the ratings. I think subscriber acquisition trumps DirecTV (Newscorp) vs Dish. I think the lack of Dish adding the channel is more about Charlie at Dish holding out for the cheapest per subscriber cost and the emotions of his politics blurring his reality that people actually want this channel. I also think his politics are behind Fox News being in the higher package as opposed to the 100 package as well.

Honestly, I haven't been too bitchy about Dish adding it (like I normally would be) because my cable company has it. Sure, I would like to see it in HD on Dish, but I will settle for the fairly good presentation of the SD version I have been watching daily during the week on Bright House networks.

I have mentioned this before that I have been considering getting rid of Dish. I subscribed last winter to compliment my cable subscription and its lack of HD content. Now BHN has been coming through with new channel adds and they have laid out an 18 month plan of 50 new channels. I can certainly dig that. Dish has not laid out a plan (at least publicly). It is wait and see. Dish is becoming obsolete to me, as they no longer have the advantage over cable in HD, other than Voom (specifically Monsters HD) which I watch but can live without. I spend about $100 a month on Dish in addition to $100 on digital cable. I think that Dish $100/month may be better spent saving (thanks Dave Ramsey for that retirement advice) or buying HD-DVD, bluray discs or video games for my family.

I'd subscribe to DirecTV for its HD but their costs keep going up and they want too much upfront for the equipment.

WOW, take a chill pill there dude, seriously!
Face it, Fox is known for it's right leanings just as CNN is known for it's left, and let's face it, neither is fair and balanced. So any thread that has to do with anything of either of those news channels or it's affiliates is going to have a bit of politics to it.
I agree there probably should be a poll for this one. It could be:
Sure, why not
Yes, of course
Hell No
and
Couldn't Care Less.
