I just received another new Genie HR-44-700 today and I still have the same problem changing the channel from the remote # pad. It can take up to 4 or 5 time of entering the channel # from the key pad on the remote to get the channel to change. This is the second new box with the same problem When it is first turned on it works fine. The face plate is clean and am only 10 feet away directly in front of box. Has anyone else had this problem? Are these boxes heat sensitive?
 
Probably IR interference, usually from the TV (you probably have an LCD TV with backlight). Best solution is to change the HR44 and remote to RF operation.
 
Found problem. I had the Banner clear set to 2 sec's. Changed it back to 4 sec's and everything works fine. Evidently 2 sec's is to fast for the box. Maybe DTV will fix the problem soon.

Interesting, I haven't heard this as a cause for slow button response. I'll try to remember this for future reference.
 
I gave someone else this suggestion about changing banner time to 4 seconds on the other site, as it takes a few tries to change channel's when you don't press the enter button.
